Internship Overview/Summary: The purpose of this internship is to give college students hands-on exposure to the full AI lifecycle at FNB. This would include but not be limited to exploring banking use cases like fraud detection, credit risk, personalization, automation, and compliance monitoring to designing, training, validating, and testing machine learning and generative AI models. Interns will also gain practical experience in data engineering and MLOps, including data pipelines, cloud platforms, and model lifecycle management. As an AI and Innovation Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world scenarios across the enterprise. You will gain hands-on experience in AI governance and responsible AI, including regulatory compliance, ethics, bias testing, security, and privacy in the banking domain. Interns will also collaborate with business, technology, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to understand how AI integrates into enterprise strategy and support vendor and tool evaluations to ensure alignment with the bank’s risk, security, and compliance standards. Internship Duties and Responsibilities: • AI Use Case Exploration: Research and evaluate potential AI applications in banking, including fraud detection, credit risk modeling, customer personalization, automation, and compliance monitoring.
• Model Development Support: Assist in designing, training, validating, and testing machine learning and generative AI models under the guidance of senior team members.
• Data Engineering & MLOps: Support data pipeline development, cloud-based workflows, and model lifecycle management to ensure scalability and reliability.
• AI Governance & Responsible AI: Participate in activities related to compliance, ethical AI, bias testing, privacy, and security to align with banking regulations and standards.
• Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with business, technology, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to understand how AI integrates into enterprise strategy and operations.
• Vendor & Tool Evaluation: Contribute to the assessment of third-party AI tools and platforms, ensuring alignment with FNB’s risk, security, and compliance requirements.
• Research & Innovation: Stay updated on the latest AI trends, frameworks, and best practices, sharing insights that could enhance FNB’s AI initiatives.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to support AI projects, findings, and recommendations for leadership review.

Primary Responsibilities: Learn aggressively: Be open to new ideas and concepts, ask questions and be intellectually curious. Opportunities are based on assigned department, possible examples include organizational structures, business etiquette, interpersonal/conflict resolution/sales/negotiation skills, industry information, products and services and functional responsibilities for various Bank departments.
Analyze: Improve the quality of decision making by doing appropriate and thorough analysis. Potential examples are based on the department assigned but can include pricing decisions, financial analysis, qualitative analysis, credit risk mitigation, identifying borrowing needs, project timelines and marketing plans.
Communicate well: Deliver information in a clear, logical and effective manner. Convey information both in writing and orally. Flex style to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group and large-group settings. Possible examples include business meetings, sales calls, training sessions, email communication and conference calls.
Display Teamwork: Work well with others to achieve group goals. Willing to leverage the experiences of members to generate improved results and maximum performance. Lead and follow with effectiveness. Willing to voice dissent and ask difficult questions. Listen, to learn. Examples include department or Intern projects.
