About this role
100% Employee-Owned · Big-firm resources, local-team relationships, ONE IMEG culture IMEG, formerly JQE, is hiring a Structural Project Engineer in Dallas, Texas. In this role, you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. You will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, while supporting project budgets, mentoring less experienced staff, and collaborating across disciplines to meet project goals and client expectations. This role supports a Texas structural team active in civic, education, aviation, infrastructure, and facility assessment work across Dallas-Fort Worth and broader Texas markets, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do • Lead structural analysis and design for low to moderate complexity projects using a variety of building materials. • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations to code requirements and IMEG standards using engineering software and tools. • Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships. • Support consulting project execution as part of a project team and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals. • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives. • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring percent complete and fee expended. • Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultants. • Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client requirements. • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG. • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner. • Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager. • Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases.
What You'll Bring Required • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required • Professional Engineer (PE) License required • Structural Engineer (SE) License and/or passed the Structural Engineer (SE) Exam required • 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and other structures • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff • Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges • Proficiency in the use of BIM software • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
Preferred • Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
Physical Requirements • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
About the Team • Texas structural team supporting civic, education, aviation, infrastructure, and facility assessment work across Dallas-Fort Worth and broader Texas markets. • Active work is concentrated in public-sector facilities, higher education, courthouse/civic programs, airport or transportation support, and structural assessments and repairs. • Recent work includes Tarrant County / Fort Worth, TX / Law Enforcement Training Center, Government (City/County/State), and City of Fort Worth / Fort Worth, TX / Fort Worth Convention Center Phase 2 - New Construction, Government (City/County/State).
