About the role
The Streaming Content (SVOD) & Awards Publicity Manager will lead the development and execution of publicity campaigns for Crunchyroll’s streaming content, helping bring anime storytelling to life for global audiences.
Reporting to the Director of Publicity, Streaming Content & Awards, this role will serve as a strategic title lead across high-priority series, seasonal programming, and awards initiatives.
The Publicity Manager will own campaigns from initial strategy and positioning through execution, media outreach, and performance reporting. This role will work closely with Licensor Relations, Brand & Community, Audience Development, regional Communications teams, licensors, talent representatives, and other internal and external partners to develop thoughtful, globally aligned campaigns that elevate Crunchyroll’s content and reinforce its position as the ultimate home for anime worldwide.
This role will also help lead seasonal slate coordination, press interviews, screenings and events, and awards and critics relations. The ideal candidate is a strategic and creative publicist and leader who combines strong media instincts with exceptional project management skills and can confidently guide complex campaigns across multiple stakeholders, markets, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as publicity lead for high-priority streaming titles, owning campaigns from strategy and positioning through launch, sustained storytelling, and performance reporting
• Develop comprehensive publicity plans that identify campaign narratives, target audiences, key milestones, and creative media opportunities
• Lead media outreach across entertainment, trade, anime, pop culture, and other relevant verticals, while maintaining strong relationships with journalists, critics, and tastemakers
• Create and refine press materials, including press releases, media alerts, pitches, briefing documents, talking points, and campaign plans
• Coordinate publicity efforts for Crunchyroll’s seasonal programming slates, aligning title priorities, campaign timelines, and regional support
• Manage press-facing screenings, events, conventions, and activations, including media strategy, invitations, programming coordination, and on-site execution
• Prepare and staff voice actors, creatives and content talent for interview and press opportunities.
• Partner with the Director of Publicity, Streaming Content & Awards on awards and critics-relations strategy and execution
• Collaborate with Brand Management, Marketing, Social, Editorial, Events, regional Communications teams, and other partners to develop integrated, globally aligned campaigns
• Work directly with licensors, talent representatives, production partners, and external agencies to manage campaign needs, approvals, assets, and deliverables
• Monitor press coverage and campaign performance, developing recaps that communicate results, key wins, insights, and future opportunities
• Contribute to standardized campaign practices, reporting rhythms, and scalable processes across the SVOD Communications team
About You
• 5+ years of experience in publicity, media relations, communications, or a related field, preferably within entertainment, television, streaming, or consumer media
• Demonstrated experience leading publicity campaigns and managing projects from strategy through execution
• Established relationships with media across entertainment, trade, anime, pop culture, or related verticals
• Experience coordinating interviews, press junkets, screenings, events, or other talent- and media-facing programs
• Strong writing and editing skills, with experience developing press releases, pitches, talking points, campaign plans, and other communications materials
• Proven ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholder groups simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint or Keynote, Google Workspace, and Outlook
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Desired Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
• Strategic and creative publicity instincts, with the ability to translate content into compelling media narratives and audience-relevant stories
• Strong project management skills and a consistent record of driving complex workstreams forward
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Confident working directly with senior stakeholders, licensors, talent representatives, external partners, and members of the press
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, particularly when managing approvals, assets, schedules, embargoes, and distribution requirements
• Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable exercising independent judgment while working within a highly collaborative team
• Ability to maintain composure, flexibility, and sound decision-making in a fast-paced environment
• Experience collaborating with international or regional Communications teams on global campaigns
• Familiarity with awards campaigns, critics relations, or industry voting organizations
• Experience using campaign reporting and media performance insights to inform future strategy
• A genuine passion for anime and strong awareness of entertainment, streaming, fandom, and broader pop-culture trends
