Job Summary : Participate in the delivery of safe, quality patient care by providing clean, disinfected, sterilized instruments, implants, metal goods, and equipment to hospital departments.

Essential Responsibilities:  1. Fiscal a. A ssists a n est h esia, surge o ns, and as s o ciates with procedural related tas k s b. M onito r s in s t r u m ent/equ i p m ent f or p r ocessing f o l lowing m a n ufacture/A M MI g u idelines. c. C arries o u t es tablished p r ocedure s : c l eaning, dec o nta m inati n g and s t erilization. d. P r ovides ass i s ta n ce in t h e order of pr i ority and r e - pri o ritiz e s as designat e d by t h e direct o r o r designee. e. A lters own ti m e schedule to adj u st to changes in acti v ity le v e l of the d e part m ent. f. F i ll o u t app r o pri a te work orders and s upport unit goals to el im inate waste g. O rders and o v ersees surg i cal supply i nventory, a n d appropri a te m aterials are a v ailable w he n needed. 2. Qual i ty a. R esponsible f or loading a nd unloadi n g all s te r ili z ing and cle a ning equi pm ent to allow for p roper steam or gas steri l ization of a l l ite m s. b. Supports clie n t care by r e adily resp o n ding to on - g oing inte rm ittent and u n expected c h anges in de legated as p e cts of care. c. F a cilit a tes p l anning , pro v i sion and d o cu m entati o n of client c a re p e r req u e st of a n esthe s ia, su rgeons and O R associa t es. d. Consults and collaborates a ppropriately to revise instru m ent sets and supply pull sheets as technological advances influence changes in delegated aspects of care. e. Accept and delegate ta s ks approp r i a tely and p r o m ote tea m work 3. Patie n t Sati sf action a. Collaborates with other h ealth care p r oviders r egardin g th e pla n of intraoperative cares, including instr u m ent/supply set up prior to case. b. Responds quickly to request for supplies/instru m ents. c. Maintain professional environ m ent and keep noise to a m inimum at all ti m es d. Exe m plifies excellent guests relations to patients , visitors , an d physician s and co-workers. 4. Patien t Safety a. Cleaning, deconta m ination, and steriliz a tion of all instru m ents, m etal goods, and equipment used for patient care. b. Asse m bling and packaging of all instr u m ents and i m plants and assuring that they are correctly l abele d an d asse m b led. c. Responsible for safe operation of all equip m ent used for cleaning and sterilization. d. Responsible for accurate and m eticulous do c u m e n tation of all sterilizer c h arts, record books, and biological records. e. Responsible for understanding and approp riatel y followin g th e hospital-wide Body Substance/Stan d ard Precautio n s, Respiratory & AFB isolation protocols and to be compliant with the m in i m al protective barrier require m ents for tasks perfor m ed in Central S t erile. f. Adhere to HIPAA and follow social m edia policy 5. Professiona l Growth a. Share knowledge and skills with colleagues and others inc l udin g orientation and cross-training. b. D e m onstrate leadership and be a resource for peer c. Identify professional needs and collabo r ates with m anage m ent for learning opportunities for self  and for the unit d. Participate in development and i m p l e m entation of depart m e ntal goals. e. Attend product practice change in-services. 6. Custo m er Service a. Establish and Maintains strong relation s hips with all custo m ers, focusing on physicians, provider practice s , anesthesi a an d public b. Provide a professional and quie t patien t environ m ent c. Practice AIDET (Acknowledge, Identi f y, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) d. Pro m ote commi t m ent to co-workers, view all staff as part of an equal team and be app r oachable at all ti m es, and m aintain interde p art m ental relati o nships e. Be f lexible with assig nm ents, staff i ng needs and assigned shifts
