The Sr.   Tes t I mplement ation and   Support   ( TIS)   Application Scientist   is responsible for   providing outstanding technical support to Abbott Cancer Diagnostics   Phoenix laboratories   perfo rming   Next   Genera tion Sequen cing   (NGS ) . This position works individually or in collaboration with others on troubleshooting , ro ot cause   analys is,   and resolving   laboratory   assay   issues   in a timely manner . This position will also work on projects to bring enhancements of current products and processes to the   lab or atory .

This is an onsite position at our Phoenix location.

Essential Duties  

Include but are not limited to the following:  

• Receive and document incoming   l aborat ory   invest igation req uests .    

• Work cooperatively with   sta keh olders   and   internal   functional departments to troubleshoot and resolve   laboratory   questions   and   requests in the   areas of reagent, consumables, and assay related issues.  

• Lead troubleshooting of   laboratory   issues through root   cause analysis , experiment design, study execution, data analysis, and   technical summary .   Provid e   technical advice on preventative action.    

• Conduct bench level experiments within several product areas.  

• Prepare technical experiment report s   with all technical specification ,   information , and acceptance criteria   and   present   to supervisor or project team.  

• P rovid e   technical   and scientific   input   for   decisions affecting project   planning ,   experimental design , and workflow.  

• Clearly and accurately summarize and document troubleshooting activities   and   experi ments.  

• Prepare detailed technical   validation/verification   p lans, protocols, experimental design, data analysis,   SOP s,   and summari es to   present to   laboratory leade rship.  

• Communicate   la bora tory   feedback   regarding   product requirements to the   developmental   team for   designing and   implementing   new and existing products.   A ct as   the voice   of the la borat ory   when   working   on   proces s improvements   and validations.    

• Draft and distribute content of   enterprise-wide   communications   regarding   incoming and outbound supplier communications .  

• Contribute ideas to improve   ro o t cause   inv estigation s,   lab o rat ory pr ac tices,   va lidation s ,   metrics ,   and   team   processes .  

• Comm unicates   clearly   with   supervisor , tea m members,   and   pro ject sta keholde rs.    

• Ability to provide technical and hands-on support to   clini cal   laboratory   by phone, email ,   and   onsite.  

• Ability to   identify , implement, and   report on   process   improvements in   the laboratory.    

• Detail oriented with   very strong   organizational skills.  

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.  

• Ability to   maintain   confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform   typing for approximately 70% of a typical working day.  

• Ability to   grasp with   both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm;   reach   above shoulder height.  

• Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.  

• Ability to use a telephone through a headset.  

• Ability to   comply with   any applicable personal protective equipment requirements .  

Minimum Qualifications  

• Ph.D. in a life sciences field;   Master’s   degree in a life sciences field and 2 years of life   sciences industry experience in lieu of Ph.D.; or   Bachelor’s Degree   in life sciences or related   field and 4 years of life sciences industry experience in lieu of Ph.D.  

• 3+ years of experience in the life sciences industry or a related field.  

• 3+ years of experience analyzing data with tools such as Microsoft Office Excel or JMP.  

• 2+ years of experience working in a molecular diagnostics/clinical laboratory.  

• Professional working knowledge or coursework with molecular biology techniques and   Real-Time-PCR Assays.  

• Strong understanding of statistical and mathematical methods in biology/genetics .  

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.  

• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.  

• Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without  accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications  

• MB   (ASCP )   c ertificat ion .  

• 2 + years of   NGS   experie nce .    

• 3+ years of experience working within Quality System Regulations and Service   requirements defined   therein .  

• 1+   year   of experience working in a technical support function   including   r oot cause a nalysis   and   data analysis.   

• Experience using JMP and R for statistical analysis.
