We are looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Staff Electromechanical Engineer - Materials & Processes based out of San Diego, CA . As a Staff Electromechanical Engineer - Materials & Processes at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation. What You’ll get to Do: Provides materials and processes support to the design, development, prototype fabrication, and design verification and qualification testing of communications system equipment, including receivers, transmitters, and digital processors, for military avionics and ground mobile applications. Supports the development of master integrity and corrosion prevention and control plans. Selects materials, and performs analyses and testing, as required, to verify performance of hardware items, and electrical interconnecting structures. Works closely with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve production problems. Assesses defective boards, circuit card assemblies and components and conducts root cause failure analysis and long term reliability evaluations when required. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications for Materials and Processes Engineer: • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 14 years of experience; or 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 10 years with a STEM PhD • Basic understanding of electronics including the ability to read electrical schematics, identify and understand the functionality of electronic components, and materials used in circuit card assembly (CCA) manufacturing. • Experience with failure analysis processes related to microelectronics (components or assemblies). • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment. • Must be US Citizen • Clearance: The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in corrosion prevention and control, and in the selection of materials and surface finishes for military applications. • Demonstrated ability to work with outside supply chain and also within a small technical development team. • Familiarity with quality systems, component DMS, ESD, ROHS and Material Review Board concepts. • Understanding of military electronics reliability requirements, familiarity with EEE components, printed wiring board, components, connectors, and electrical grounding, bonding, and shielding concepts as well as processes such as soldering, bonding, coating, machining, plating, painting, welding, and brazing.

Primary Level Salary Range: $192,800.00 - $289,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
