Sr. Software Engineer (Backend)

About this role

GoodData.AI is an AI-native analytics platform helping companies turn their data into governed, agentic, and embeddable decision-making experiences. Built around a headless semantic layer and an analytics-as-code approach, our platform lets development teams build, automate, and govern analytics the same way they build any other software — with CI/CD, version control, and automated testing baked in.

We're looking for a Sr. Software Engineer (Backend) to help us build the next generation of composable, AI-driven analytics infrastructure. You can work remote, hybrid, or fully onsite from our Brno or Prague offices.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The team builds a product-oriented Analytical Stack, collaborating closely with dedicated Product Manager, Architect and QA, to solve real customer problems and deliver features that make a difference. We collaborate to design solutions incrementally and value ownership and responsibility. Our engineers take end-to-end ownership of their work, with the freedom to experiment, innovate, and contribute to shaping the product.

OUR TECH STACK

- Our tech stack is built for scalability, efficiency, and flexibility in data processing

- Our backend is primarily developed in Python (with types) and Kotlin, with a focus on modular microservices handling various aspects of the data pipeline, including orchestration, integration, and processing. We also recently started adopting more and more of Rust in performance-critical parts of our services.

- We deploy on Kubernetes, leveraging technologies like Apache Arrow, DuckDB, Pandas, and Polars for high-performance data processing

- We prioritize distributed architecture and scalability, crafting high-quality, test-driven code while influencing technical solutions, best practices, and API design—both internally and externally

WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?

You are used to working on more than one project. You thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and enjoy taking initiative. You are proactive, open-minded, and enthusiastic about learning new technologies.

YOU SHOULD HAVE

- A robust background in computer science,

- experience with object-oriented programming,

- interest in clean software architecture,

- a passion for distributed systems and data processing,

- good proficiency in spoken and written English,

- passion for your work, focus on technical excellence and quality of the delivered solutions,

- a strong sense of ownership, while being open to constructive feedback.

IT IS NICE IF YOU HAVE

- Working knowledge of Apache Arrow and other open source data technologies

- Python/ Kotlin experience
