Sr. Project Manager, FEED – On Prem Power  - San Francisco, Denver, Dallas

A day in   the life  

We are seeking a   Senior FEDM   who combines deep infrastructure   development experience with   knowledge of diverse   power generation technologies . “On Prem” refers   to on   premises power generation facilities that are designed for a specific customer load .   These loads can be from diverse industrial uses including   R&D, manufacturing, data   centers   and cold storage .   This role requires one   to manage front-end development stages of capital projects .   T echnoeconomic analytical skills and risk balanc ing   skills are   critical to   translate   business cases into   attainable project   scopes ahead of detailed design .  

Key responsibilities include:  

Project Development, Project Management and Entitlements  

• Managing   local approval processes including entitlement packages   and   CEQA   approvals   (where applicable), air permitting and   knowledge of   building permit packages.  

• Managing air permit application development by specialist consultants      

• Develop contingency plans for   permitting   delays, interconnection risks, and supply chain disruptions   

Utility Coordination and Energy Strategy  

• Managing front-end engineering and consulting resources to complete utility service applications, interconnection applications and   manage   deliverables with the utility to complete the intake, study, and preliminary design phases of the utility upgrades when   required  

• Knowledge of   multiple generation technologies including but not limited to battery storage, natural gas generation, diesel backup, and their required ancillary systems like HVAC, electrical, fire and safety systems at MW scale.  

• Demonstrated development experience in natural gas supply (house line, utility coordination, capacity procurement and permitting) for on-prem projects.  

Engineering &   Design Management  

• Managing engineering resources to complete initial design basis memoranda and mature those as   Front End   Engineering and Design (FEED) packages.  

• Implementing design standards and   instill   cost leadership within engineering teams to ensure competitive outcomes   

• Managing critical equipment   selection   with front-end engineers and internal Procurement   

• Coordinating supplier relationships with Procurement and   manage   their   scope   development.  

• Track ing   deliverables against cost and schedule milestones defined by the business.  

• Working with operations counterparts to incorporate operability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost considerations into design standards   

Program   Oversight  

• Coordinate with cross functional team members to build consensus and clearly define risks for the project.  

• Understand Prologis project cost structures and estimating techniques to analyze project costs critically,   identify   trends and   facilitate   value engineering  

• Manage handing off the   front end   development (post-FEED pkg) to the Prologis execution team.   This role requires staying engaged with the project, supporting the execution team downstream after handoff.  

• Support go/no-go investment decisions through technical diligence, risk analysis, and   partner with finance on   ROI modeling   

• Drive data quality and standardization of portfolio dashboard metrics from the top down  

Required:  

Technical comfort with Energy Systems

• Experience with both front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter projects. Direct experience with primary and backup BTM for C&I/mission critical applications.  

• Must be able to e valuate and integrate emerging energy technologies (e.g., hydrogen, microgrids, hybrid systems) into program roadmaps   

• Solid engineering foundat ion w ith   abili ty to review and challenge system design, OEM selection and BOP expertise. Ability to e val uate and   sel ect across generation technologies using LCOE, reliability and lifecycle analysis.  

• Highly proficient in standard project management tools in budgeting, scheduling

• Be highly adaptable to managing change and give clear direction during times of transition  

• Collaborate with the broader Prologis community in Data Centers and Re al Es tate to stay abreast of the technology catalog, share lessons learned, optimize resources, and develop skills & best practices that enhance effectiveness

• Deep understanding of   the Energy , Water and Carbon   nexus  

• Comfort making decisions and leading stakeholders in a highly ambiguous environment   

• Demonstrated organizational skills and communication skills  

• Leadership ability in a high-performance culture with the ability to build consensus, establish trust and communicate effectively  

Preferred Qualifications:  

• 10+ years of capital projects development experience in the power industry, preferably at larger mission-critical industrial or utility scales involving the following technologies (Energy Storage, Power Generation, Hydrogen Systems, Islanded Power Generation (microgrids), Combined Heat & Power)  

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
