About this role
ICON builds robotic systems that construct multi-story buildings. We commercially launched Titan , our robotic construction platform, in March 2026, and hold more than $360M in government contracts across the Army, Air Force, DARPA, and NASA. For the accounting function, that growth means more entities, more headcount, higher transaction volume, and government work that raises the bar on controls and auditability.
The Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting owns the recurring, high-volume operational close that turns ICON's daily activity into accurate, audit-ready financials. You lead the corporate accounting function across accounts payable and accruals, leases, fixed assets, payroll, and the general ledger, and you build, structure, and lead the team that runs these processes, including subordinate supervisors and senior professionals as the function scales.
Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, you establish the policies, procedures, and controls that scale with headcount and entity growth, own the corporate accounting department's budget and performance, and deliver books that are accurate, timely, and useful to management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Corporate Accounting & Monthly Close
• Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for all corporate accounting workstreams, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis across operating expenses below gross margin; set close objectives and delegate execution across the team while retaining accountability for accuracy and timeliness.
• Own the general ledger and chart of accounts; establish, document, and continuously improve the close calendar, policies, and procedures, driving structural changes that shorten the close and scale with headcount and entity growth.
• Own the Company's accounting for capitalized software, including setting and maintaining the capitalization policy, reviewing cost and development stages of software projects in partnership with the Technology team, and overseeing execution of monthly close entries.
• Own accounting for payroll, benefits, and related liabilities, partnering with People Operations to ensure complete, accurate, and timely recording.
Payables, Leases & Fixed Assets
• Lead the accounts payable function and the end-to-end procure-to-pay cycle, including invoice classification, vendor management, expense reporting, and corporate card programs; manage AP staff, supervisors, and contract resources, and set operational objectives and work plans for the group.
• Own lease accounting under ASC 842, including new-lease analysis, schedules, remeasurements, and disclosures, across ICON's facilities and equipment portfolio.
• Own the fixed asset subledger, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and roll-forwards for ICON's facilities, equipment, and internal-use assets.
Controls, Systems & Process
• Establish and enforce internal controls over corporate accounting; develop, modify, and execute accounting policies that affect immediate operations and may have company-wide effect, improving accuracy, timeliness, and auditability.
• Set the roadmap for optimization and automation within NetSuite and connected systems to reduce manual effort and shorten the close, building toward an accelerated, audit-ready financial infrastructure that supports future reporting requirements.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
• Build, supervise, develop, and grow the corporate accounting team, including experienced professionals and potential subordinate supervisors; establish objectives and work plans, assign and review work, conduct performance evaluations, and develop succession depth within the function.
• Hold accountability for the corporate accounting department budget, including headcount planning and outside resource spend.
• Serve as a trusted senior partner to People Operations, Procurement, Facilities, and FP&A on recording, classification, and budget-versus-actual questions, advising stakeholders on moderately complex accounting matters.
Audit & Reporting Support
• Direct corporate accounting deliverables for the external audit, including schedules, workpapers, and documentation, partnering with the technical accounting and reporting function on complex or non-routine matters.
• Deliver accurate, timely corporate accounting data to support the preparation of consolidated financial statements, which are owned by the technical accounting and reporting function.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 8+ years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in general ledger, close management, and operational accounting.
• 3+ years of people management experience, including managing experienced professionals; experience managing supervisors or leads a plus.
• CPA required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience establishing or materially improving close processes, accounting policies, and internal controls in a scaling environment.
• Strong proficiency in ERP and financial systems; NetSuite and Coupa preferred.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including experience building and maintaining complex financial models, datasets, and pivot tables.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Big 4 or large regional public accounting background strongly preferred.
• Pre-IPO, high-growth, or multi-segment company experience a plus.
• Experience leading ERP optimization or automation initiatives, NetSuite preferred.
• Experience building or restructuring an accounting team through rapid growth.
