Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $53.570 - $69.120 - $77.410   The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.  

What You Will Do The Cardiac Nurse Specialist applies clinical expertise in evidence-based nursing practice within a specialty area and functions in the following roles: clinical expert, program developer, and educator of both staff and patients. Provides focused attention to a specific patient population that will enhance and continue to improve patient care and outcomes.

Required Qualifications • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED

• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

• Master's Degree in Nursing • 5 Years cardiac experience.

Essential Functions • Clinical expert Through support of the nursing process, applies evidenced-based practice to identified patient populations with inclusion of age/culturally appropriate approach, evaluation of trends, innovative solutions, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Facilitates/provides opportunities for improving nurse sensitive outcome(s) in selected patient populations. Resolves educational deficits. Develops new area of expertise/skill acquisition applicable to role. • Educator Provides framework for assigned clinical staff competency validation and provides opportunities for professional growth. Provides framework for patient/family education in selected patient populations. Develops and maintains department specific nursing competency program. Educates staff on new or advanced application of skills. • Program development Innovates, develops and coordinates cardiac services programs and education for AMI, CHF, CABG, and Structural Heart. Develops pathways for identified conditions. Familiarity with hospital and community resources and hospital Quality Plan. Understanding and familiarity with appropriate hospital committees. Utilize critical thinking skills to process data to effect change. • Program implementation Recognizes and communicates at level of individual learners need. Modifies the learning process to accommodate specific target populations. Active participation in organizations whose focus is the same patient population (i.e. Heart Failure Society, American College of Cardiology, AHA). • Referral management Maintain basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). Maintain familiarity with SHC computer programs, databases (Cerner, TSI). Maintains clinical knowledge of cardiac disease processes for targeted patient population. Notifies appropriate resources when issues or problems arise. Results are achieved independently and on own initiative. • Teamwork Works collaboratively with patients, nursing, physicians, and multidisciplinary team to provide quality cost effective care to the targeted patient population. Use effective communication skills. Demonstrate organizational, time management, and prioritization skills. Demonstrate conflict resolution ability. Utilizes team building skills to provide direction, goal setting and attainment of goals.
