Sr. Benefits Consultant, Benefits Operations Location: Richmond, VA, USA - 9954 Mayland Drive  Hybrid Note : This is a hybrid position. Relocation is available. Remote is currently not available.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Benefits Consultant, Benefits Operations serves as the operational lead for the administration and delivery of the company's health, welfare, leave of absence, retirement, and international benefits programs. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of benefits operations, managing vendor and carrier relationships, overseeing benefits technology platforms, and leading key benefits initiatives.

The position acts as the primary owner of benefits administration processes, vendor performance, Dayforce Benefits, carrier integrations, and open enrollment activities. This individual will partner closely with Human Resources, Payroll, vendors, consultants, and business stakeholders to deliver a seamless employee experience while driving operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

Benefits Operations Leadership

• Serve as the operational lead for the administration of company-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs.

• Oversee daily benefits operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and high service standards.

• Manage benefits administration processes including eligibility, enrollments, life events, billing, and vendor coordination.

• Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, controls, and employee experience.

Leave of Absence Program Oversight

• Oversee administration of company leave programs, including coordination with third-party administrators.

• Monitor leave program performance and identify opportunities for process improvements.

• Partner with HR and vendors to address escalated employee cases and operational issues.

• Ensure consistency and effectiveness in leave administration practices.

Dayforce Benefits Product Owner

• Serve as the primary business owner for the Dayforce Benefits platform.

• Lead configuration reviews, testing, system enhancements, and annual benefit setup activities.

• Partner with HRIS, Payroll, vendors, and consultants to resolve system issues and implement solutions.

• Manage benefits-related integrations, interfaces, and data governance.

• Drive ongoing optimization and utilization of Dayforce capabilities.

Open Enrollment Leadership

• Lead annual open enrollment planning, preparation, execution, and post-enrollment activities.

• Coordinate with vendors, carriers, consultants, HR, and communications teams.

• Oversee enrollment testing, readiness reviews, issue resolution, and employee support.

• Ensure successful implementation of enrollment changes and new program offerings.

Vendor Management

• Serve as the primary relationship manager for benefits vendors, consultants, and third-party administrators.

• Monitor vendor performance, service-level agreements, and operational effectiveness.

• Lead issue resolution, escalations, and corrective action plans when necessary.

• Support vendor selection, implementation, and renewal processes.

• Build strong partnerships that enhance service delivery and employee experience.

Carrier Implementations and Integrations

• Lead carrier implementation projects and ongoing integration management.

• Coordinate data feeds, file testing, eligibility transfers, and operational readiness activities.

• Partner with carriers and vendors to ensure accurate enrollment and eligibility data.

• Identify and resolve integration issues impacting employees or plan operations.

International Benefits Administration

• Support administration of international benefits programs in Ireland, China, and Malaysia.

• Coordinate with local vendors, brokers, consultants, and business stakeholders.

• Monitor program administration and support renewal activities.

• Assist with implementation of global benefits initiatives and process improvements.

Process Design and Documentation

• Develop and maintain benefits operational procedures, workflows, and documentation.

• Establish standard operating procedures for key benefits processes.

• Identify opportunities to streamline operations and reduce administrative complexity.

• Support business continuity and knowledge management efforts.

Benefits Communications Support

• Support development and execution of employee benefits communications.

• Partner with HR, vendors, and communications teams to improve employee understanding and engagement.

• Assist with preparation of enrollment materials, employee guides, announcements, and educational content.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for employee and stakeholder inquiries.

Project and Program Management

• Lead or support benefits-related implementations, vendor transitions, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.

• Develop project plans, timelines, and stakeholder communication strategies.

• Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure successful project execution.

• Track deliverables, risks, dependencies, and issue resolution activities.

• Support future business initiatives impacting benefits administration and employee programs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
