Educates and counsels patients and families. Provides independent therapeutic services and identify area(s) of clinical specialization and competency. Job Summary

Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is seeking a full-time Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide pediatric feeding and swallowing therapy, dysphagia management, speech-language therapy, Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS), and rehabilitation services for infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents in an inpatient acute care setting.

This Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist will support medically complex and hospital-based pediatric populations, including infants with feeding challenges, dysphagia, tracheostomies, traumatic brain injuries, and other complex medical conditions.

The role offers opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the NICU, PICU, acute care units, and pediatric rehabilitation services to optimize patient outcomes and promote safe feeding, swallowing, communication, and developmental progress.

Key Responsibilities • Provide pediatric speech-language, feeding, swallowing, and dysphagia evaluations and treatment in an inpatient acute care setting.

• Assess and treat medically complex infants, children, and adolescents, including patients with feeding disorders, swallowing impairments, tracheostomies, and communication deficits.

• Perform and interpret Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS) as appropriate.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.

• Develop individualized treatment plans and establish functional goals to support patient recovery and development.

• Document evaluations, plans of care, treatment progress, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.

• Educate patients and caregivers regarding feeding strategies, swallowing safety, communication development, and home programs.

• Support discharge planning and continuity of care across the healthcare continuum.

Qualifications Required • Pediatric hospital acute care experience

• Pediatric feeding and swallowing experience

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)

• Tennessee Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility for licensure

Qualifications Preferred • NICU, and PICU experience preferred

• VFSS experience preferred
