Position Summary A Senior Research Compliance Specialist provides programmatic support for the University’s research ethics and compliance programs. This person implements and monitors compliance review activities in accordance with the University’s policies, and federal and sponsoring agencies regulations, with minimal supervision; interprets applicable policies and regulations to resolve complex research and regulatory issues; provides expert advice and training to faculty, non-faculty, and committee members; interacts directly with external funding agencies and other academic institutions regarding the University’s adherence to policies and regulations; serves as team lead in the absence of the manager and/or director. * Remote may be an option *

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Independently researches highly complex relationships and transactions with minimal supervision; monitors for compliance and identifies and investigates instances of non-compliance; prepares detailed case reports for review by the faculty committees; makes recommendations to faculty committees to help resolve cases/situations; prepares reports/notifications to stakeholders of committee findings; ensures the integrity and security of confidential information; maintains complete and accurate program records • Reviews and evaluates faculty and non-faculty personal financial relationships related to research to determine the applicability of the University’s policies and whether it needs to be reviewed by the faculty committees; has independent authority to approve financial disclosures; primary responsibility for reviewing complicated, high-risk cases/financial disclosures (predominately focused on clinical research) with minimal supervision • Works directly with the faculty appointed committees and chairs as well as other program staff to ensure reviews are completed consistently and in a timely manner • Provides advice and counsel to faculty, non-faculty, committee members, and other program staff regarding University’s policies and processes, and federal, state and sponsoring agency regulations.  Liaisons with other University departments or programs as needed to facilitate reviews or support program initiatives • Ensures the submission of the appropriate reports to federal, state, sponsor or regulatory agencies; ensures preparation of operational and statistical reports. Speaks for the University when interacting directly with external funding agencies and other academic institutions • Develops and implements educational programs, other communication tools, and procedures; reviews and analyzes current processes to evaluate efficiency; assists with policy development. Leads presentations and training sessions regarding university policy as needed. Coordinates the planning and delivery of electronic forms and electronic administration software programs, with minimal supervision • Decisions and judgments have an impact on the university’s reputation and external compliance so significant judgment expertise is required; therefore, this position is required to stay abreast of regulations, external environment, and University policies. • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range $53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
