About our Team: Micron’s Supplier Quality Engineering team partners with Technology Development, Procurement, Operations, OCT, Facilities, and global manufacturing sites to ensure material quality readiness from new technology development through high-volume manufacturing. The team drives supplier quality strategy, qualification, risk mitigation, supplier development, and continuous improvement while leveraging advanced analytics, digital tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve quality performance and accelerate decision-making worldwide.

Position Overview: The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for leading material quality readiness, supplier qualification, risk assessment, supplier development, and quality performance management across both development and production environments. This role collaborates with global cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure supplier capability, material readiness, specification compliance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement through data-driven and AI-enabled quality processes.

Responsibilities: • Lead material quality readiness activities supporting technology development and high-volume manufacturing. • Collaborate with Technology Development teams on First of a Kind material quality readiness, supplier quality programs, and specification development.

• Assess material risks, predict failure modes, and accelerate qualification readiness using AI/ML-driven analytics and historical data.

• Support sourcing strategies including business continuity planning, benchmarking, new market evaluations, and supplier capability assessments.

• Drive cross-fab technology transfer activities and supplier quality programs for new, unique, difficult, and critical materials.

• Lead Category Strategy Team meetings to share lessons learned, align on material strategies, and prevent recurring issues globally.

• Utilize AI-enabled knowledge management systems to capture, classify, and distribute lessons learned across sites.  

• Lead supplier sourcing, qualification, and risk management activities. • Conduct supplier and material qualification risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

• Deploy AI-based risk scoring models, digital dashboards, and scenario modeling tools to prioritize qualification risks.

• Support sourcing, segmentation, benchmarking, supplier selection, and business continuity initiatives.

• Conduct technical capability and readiness audits for new suppliers and materials.

• Utilize digital audit tools and AI-assisted pattern recognition to identify hidden risks and systemic gaps.

• Establish, communicate, and ensure compliance with Supplier Requirement Standards.  

• Drive supplier development, specification management, and quality improvement programs. • Lead alignment of global material specifications for specialty gases and chemicals.

• Support development of smart specifications using AI-driven process capability insights and predictive limits.

• Partner with Material Category Leads to develop Category Quality Strategies, Quality Roadmaps, and Defense Line Programs.

• Implement preventive quality programs, benchmarking activities, and Shift-Left quality initiatives.

• Facilitate supplier Quality and Technical Review meetings using data visualization and AI-driven insights.

• Manage supplier and sub-supplier changes through supply chain management processes.

• Oversee resolution of globally impacting material quality issues.

• Collaborate with OCT, MTE, Operations, and Facilities teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Cascade lessons learned globally to ensure closed-loop prevention.

• Define, measure, and monitor supplier performance metrics and Supplier Requirement Standards compliance.

• Develop automated dashboards, predictive scorecards, and AI-enabled supplier performance monitoring systems.

• Continuously improve supplier quality processes, productivity, and operational effectiveness.

• Partner with Procurement during supplier evaluations using quality-based performance metrics and analytics.  

• Provide stakeholder communication, reporting, and business updates. • Deliver weekly updates regarding supplier performance, activities, concerns, and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain strong communication with Global Quality, Procurement, OCT, Operations, and cross-functional partners.

• Escalate issues appropriately and ensure timely resolution.

• Keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, mitigation plans, and opportunities.

• Generate executive-ready reports using AI-assisted reporting, dashboards, and visualization tools.

• Leverage automated storytelling and reporting platforms to enhance decision-making and visibility.  

• Support organizational development, supplier digitalization, and continuous learning initiatives. • Establish measurable professional development goals aligned with business priorities.

• Demonstrate ownership, accountability, self-motivation, and commitment to quality.

• Utilize coaching, mentorship, and feedback to drive continuous improvement.

• Build AI and data literacy related to machine learning models, data pipelines, and digital quality tools.

• Adopt and champion AI-enabled workflows and digital processes within Supplier Quality Engineering.

• Collaborate with global Supplier Quality Engineers on strategic category initiatives.

• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting supplier digitalization and AI adoption efforts.

• Lead or participate in predictive quality, smart SPC, supplier risk intelligence, and automated audit initiatives.
