About this role
About the Team
The centralized Workplace Investigation Team (WIT) sits within the Legal organization and is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and objective investigations into alleged policy violations, including matters involving insider threats and security breaches.
About the Role
The Senior Workplace Investigations Business Partner is responsible for leading complex, employee-facing investigations. This specific role will have a focus on matters involving potential security breaches, misuse of systems, and data access concerns, alongside other traditional workplace investigations matters.
This role operates at the intersection of Legal, Security, and Workplace Investigations, requiring the ability to assess risk, interpret technical evidence, and conduct fair, defensible investigations in high stakes situations. The investigator must balance employee impact with enterprise risk, often in ambiguous and sensitive circumstances.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
• Lead investigations into allegations involving unauthorized access, data misuse, and insider threat signals, including cases referred by Security teams; conduct interviews of complainants, subjects, and witnesses; and draft clear investigative reports with defensible findings and conclusions
• Partner with internal Security teams to interpret system logs, access patterns, and digital evidence
• Translate technical findings into clear investigative narratives and defensible outcomes
• Assess employee intent, credibility, and level of risk, including distinguishing between negligent, reckless, and malicious behavior
• Support decision-making where there is heightened legal, regulatory, or reputational exposure
• Prepare, maintain, and track all case related documents and communication in the designated case management system
• Develop effective relationships with cross-functional partners such as Security, Legal, Employee Relations, and Human Resources.
• Utilize investigation data to provide strategic insights that inform leadership decisions, mitigate risks, and improve workplace culture.
• Consult with in-house attorneys as needed to ensure compliance and consistent interpretation of relevant laws and regulations
• Drive continuous improvement of Workplace Investigations and participate in cross-functional projects as needed
We’re excited about you because…
• You have a BA/BS and 8+ years of relevant experience in workplace investigations, human resources, employee relations, security, and/or employment law
• You have 5+ years of experience conducting complex, high-risk investigations, including matters involving fraud, data misuse, or security-related concerns
• You have experience working with technical or digital evidence [eg access logs, systems activity, audit trails], ideally in partnership with Security or technical teams
• You have demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous, high-stakes environments with competing priorities, including balancing employee fairness with company risk
• You balance speed and quality and have a knack for prioritizing work even when two matters appear to be similar on the surface
• You strive for operational excellence in case management. You are highly organized, detail oriented, and able to track and manage multiple cases/projects simultaneously.
• You excel at stakeholder management. You have experience managing relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders in various levels and functions.
• You have outstanding communication skills and are an expert at writing clear, concise, investigative reports tailored to multiple audiences.
• You are flexible and adaptable to a rapidly changing environment with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
Nice to haves:
• Juris Doctorate or other advanced degree in a relevant field
• AWI-CH, SPHR/SHRM-SCP, or CFE certification
• Previous tech experience
