Job Summary: As a Senior UX Designer on the Prime Online team, you will play a key role in designing customer-facing digital experiences that support critical workflows for Caterpillar customers and dealers. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and fellow UX Designers to create intuitive, scalable, and visually polished experiences that deliver measurable value to users and the business.
This role requires a strong balance of user-centered thinking, interaction design expertise, and advanced UI design skills. You will be responsible for translating complex requirements into elegant, production-ready solutions while ensuring consistency, accessibility, and alignment with Caterpillar's design standards. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled designer who thrives in ambiguous problem spaces, demonstrates exceptional visual design craft, and can independently drive work from discovery through delivery.
What You Will Do: • Design end-to-end user experiences for Prime Online products and features, from concept exploration through final delivery.
• Create high-quality wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and pixel-perfect UI designs that are ready for development.
• Apply advanced visual design principles to elevate the quality, consistency, and usability of Prime Online experiences.
• Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers to define requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver impactful solutions.
• Translate complex workflows and business needs into intuitive, efficient, and engaging customer experiences.
• Contribute to and leverage Caterpillar's design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across products.
• Conduct and participate in design critiques to strengthen solution quality and improve design outcomes.
• Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to synthesize customer insights and identify experience improvements.
• Review implemented experiences throughout development to ensure alignment with design intent and quality standards.
• Advocate for accessibility, usability, and inclusive design practices in all solutions.
• Continuously refine designs based on user feedback, analytics, and business performance metrics.
• Stay informed on emerging UX and UI design trends, tools, and best practices, bringing new ideas and approaches to the team.
What You Will Have:
Creativity: Knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations. Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Computer Software Industry: Knowledge of computer software industry; ability to understand future products, vendors, technologies, issues, and trends and directions. Web Software Design: Knowledge of web software design; ability to design, develop, maintain and enhance web-based or web-enabled software. Human-Centered Design (HCD): Knowledge of Human-Centered Design model, principle, and concepts; ability to understand the perspective of people who experience a problem, their needs, and provide them with a solution which truly meets their needs effectively. User Experience Design: Knowledge of user experience design tools, techniques and approaches; ability to design applications that are valued, positively perceived and used by clients. User Interface Design: Knowledge of user-centered design principles and human-computer interaction; ability to design and develop intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly interfaces that meet business goals and user needs. Advanced UI & Visual Design Level – Extensive Experience • Exceptional visual design skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating modern, polished, and highly usable digital experiences.
• Advanced proficiency in typography, layout, composition, spacing, color systems, visual hierarchy, and responsive design.
• Expert-level Figma skills, including component creation, prototyping, design systems, and production-ready specifications.
• Ability to create high-fidelity designs that are both visually compelling and feasible to implement.
• Strong understanding of applying and extending enterprise design systems while maintaining consistency across products.
UX & Interaction Design Level – Extensive Experience • Expertise designing intuitive web experiences and complex workflows for enterprise and customer-facing applications.
• Strong knowledge of information architecture, user flows, interaction patterns, and usability best practices.
• Ability to transform complex business and technical requirements into simple, effective user experiences.
• Experience creating design artifacts ranging from low-fidelity concepts to detailed production-ready designs.
Human-Centered Design Level – Extensive Experience • Deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies and design thinking practices.
