The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Business Development (Regulatory) to join our Firm. This position will be based in our Washington D.C. office (hybrid).
Position Overview The Senior Specialist, Business Development (Regulatory) a pivotal role within Skadden's Regulatory Business Development team, focusing on business growth and enhanced market presence of the Firm's regulatory practices. Facilitates seamless coordination of business development initiatives by developing and executing on business development goals and liaising with essential teams, including Marketing, Communications, Firm Recognition, Proposals, Content, Events, Experience, and Strategic Intelligence. Collaborates closely with the broader global Business Development team to ensure the highest level of market engagement and client service.
Responsibilities • Supports the Regulatory BD leadership team with the identification of new targets and the execution of various activities that enable partners to build new relationships through the coordination of target management, meetings and events, pitches, and proposals, and thought leadership promotion. • Helps with the execution of cross-selling and client targeting initiatives, including industry groups and client teams. • Provides direct support to partners with client and target pipeline strategies. • Liaises with Strategic Intelligence team to research and analyze industry and legal trends to find new opportunities to engage with clients and contacts. • Coordinates RFPs and pitches for new business development opportunities, with support from the Firm Proposals team. • Supports enhancements to pitch templates and content to improve the content and design of specialized materials. • Collaborates with the Experience team to ensure regulatory experience is precise and actionable. • Collaborates with the Experience and Content teams to maintain a library of precedent materials that includes pitch templates, lawyer biographies, and practice area descriptions. • Collaborates with the Marketing and global Public Relations teams to raise internal and external visibility for lawyers in key markets through speaking opportunities, public relations, and social media. • Researches profile-raising opportunities for partners, including sponsorships, events, and community organizations. • Analyzes contact and attendee lists for email campaigns and events, supports follow-up with key contacts, and tracks outcomes and activities in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) system. • Follows recommended guidelines and practices to enhance efficiency, customer service, and employee relations, aligning with the Firm's Core Values. • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others. • Manages Firm resources responsibly. • Complies with and understands Firm operations, policies, and procedures. • Maintains reliable office presence within hybrid schedule. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications • Strong knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., CRM, Foundation, Chrome River, MS Office including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems • Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques • Demonstrates exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing • Demonstrates strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and stay productive in a fast-paced environment • Demonstrates precise attention to details, with superior proofreading and fact checking skills • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills • Demonstrates a professional demeanor, high emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity and ability to interact effectively with all levels • Ability to develop a deep understanding of the Firm’s business • Ability to develop relationships and collaborate with stakeholders • Ability to learn new software, systems, databases, and procedures quickly • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in hybrid team environments • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality • Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate effectively • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs
Education and Experience Required • Bachelor's degree • Minimum of five years of directly related experience in a law firm or professional services environment
