Job Posting Title: Senior Salesforce Developer ---- Hiring Department: Dell Medical School ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue ---- Location: AUSTIN, TX ---- Job Details: General Notes The Senior Salesforce Developer is a hands-on software developer responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting custom and standard solutions across Dell Medical School’s Salesforce ecosystem. Working in partnership with the Senior Salesforce Engineer and business, data, security, and delivery teams, this role translates complex healthcare, fundraising, constituent-engagement, and analytics requirements into secure, scalable applications.

The position develops production-quality Apex, Lightning Web Components, integrations, automation, and data solutions across Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud with Marketing Cloud Next, and Health Cloud . The developer applies disciplined software engineering practices, including source control, automated testing, code review, documentation, and secure handling of PHI/PII, while implementing new Salesforce solutions and improving platform reliability and user experience.

Purpose The Senior Salesforce Developer designs, develops, tests, deploys, and supports production-grade solutions across the Salesforce ecosystem. This role provides advanced hands-on Salesforce development using Apex, Lightning Web Components, integrations, APIs, automation, and data technologies while supporting Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud with Marketing Cloud Next, and Health Cloud.

The position partners with technical and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable solutions while applying software engineering, DevOps, testing, documentation, privacy, and security best practices.

Responsibilities Salesforce Application Development • Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade Apex classes, triggers, batch and queueable jobs, scheduled processes, platform event handlers, and reusable service-layer components.

• Build accessible, responsive Lightning Web Components and scalable, performant Apex using secure client-server communication patterns.

• Create comprehensive unit and integration tests.

• Refactor legacy Visualforce, Aura, Apex, and automation where appropriate; document design decisions and reduce technical debt without disrupting critical operations.

Cloud Solution Delivery: Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud & Health Cloud • Develop and extend Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud capabilities supporting fundraising activities.

• Support Data Cloud ingestion, data streams, mappings, segmentation, and activation, and troubleshoot data quality and harmonization issues.

• Support Marketing Cloud Next activation and segmentation responsibilities when appropriate.

• Build Health Cloud solutions supporting outreach to patients, providers, and care teams and supporting service coordination while protecting PHI and PII.

• Partner with the Senior Salesforce Engineer on scalable solution design.

Integrations, APIs & Data Engineering • Develop and support REST and SOAP integrations, Apex callouts, named and external credentials, platform events, Change Data Capture, middleware connections, and secure file-based exchanges.

• Design reliable integration behavior, including authentication, idempotency, retries, error queues, monitoring, reconciliation, and operational support procedures.

• Write efficient SOQL and SOSL and support high-volume data loads, migrations, transformations, deduplication, and archival while maintaining referential integrity and auditability.

• Collaborate with enterprise data, analytics, integration, and security teams on canonical models, Data Cloud pipelines, BI/MDM connections, and interface contracts.

DevOps, Quality Engineering & Release Delivery • Use Salesforce DX, version control, package or metadata deployment approaches, and CI/CD pipelines for releases.

• Participate in estimation, technical design, peer code review, static analysis, automated testing, regression testing, defect triage, and release validation.

• Diagnose performance, automation, integration, sharing, and data issues using logs and platform monitoring; perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes.

• Maintain technical documentation, release notes, runbooks, dependency maps, and support handoffs.

• Contribute to coding standards and reusable development patterns.

Technical Collaboration & Support • Work within an Agile delivery team to refine requirements, define acceptance criteria, demonstrate completed solutions, and communicate technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Provide advanced production support and participate in planned after-hours release windows or critical incident response as needed.

• Mentor developers and administrators through pairing, code reviews, documentation, and practical guidance on secure Salesforce development.

Marginal or Periodic Functions • Build prototypes or technical spikes to evaluate Salesforce releases, new platform capabilities, AppExchange products, and integration approaches.

• Support access reviews, security assessments, audit evidence collection, disaster-recovery exercises, and remediation of code or configuration vulnerabilities.

• Assist with production data corrections, deployment coordination, environment refreshes, and post-release validation.

• Contribute to project planning, vendor technical reviews, and statements of work when development dependencies or estimates are required.

• Create knowledge-transfer materials and provide technical enablement for administrators, analysts, support teams, and super users.
