About this role

Senior Product Designer Location: Hybrid in NYC (3 day in-office requirement)

Qualifications:

• Experience : 5+ years of hands-on product design experience in a software product company, with a strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end UX/UI projects.

• Communication : Exceptional communicator who can clearly articulate design decisions and strategies to cross-functional teams, clients, and key stakeholders.

• Self-Starter : Highly independent and proactive, capable of taking initiative and driving projects forward with minimal guidance, while keeping aligned with team goals.

• User-Centered Mindset : Skilled in translating complex user requirements into coherent design solutions focused on ease of use and delight.

• Collaboration : Effective in a multidisciplinary environment, able to balance diverse perspectives and contribute meaningfully to discussions.

• Prototyping Expertise : Demonstrated mastery of Figma with strong prototyping skills that set a standard for the team.

• Multitasking & Holistic Thinking : Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a holistic perspective and ensuring design consistency.

• Global Collaboration : Proven ability to work seamlessly across time zones as part of a global team, keeping projects aligned and on track.

• Exceptional Presentation Skills : Skilled in presenting design concepts, feature flows, and solutions with clarity and impact to cross-functional teams, clients, and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across all levels.

• Marketing Design Experience : Previous experience in marketing design, with a strong ability to create visually engaging assets that are aligned with brand messaging and effectively drive user engagement.

• Industry Insight: Prior experience in fintech—especially with a focus on B2B payment platforms—will be invaluable in helping you navigate our product’s unique challenges and identify growth opportunities.

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

• Lead and Shape Design & User Experience : You will own critical aspects of our platform's product design, steering the user experience from prioritization through to launch. You'll lead and craft tailored experiences designed specifically for a diverse range of partners.

• Collaborate with Key Stakeholders : Partner closely with Principal Designers, Product Managers, and Engineering leads to translate our company’s strategy into impactful initiatives on the roadmap, ensuring alignment on the most valuable problems to solve.

• Collaborate with Partner Design Teams : You’ll work closely with design teams from leading U.S. financial institutions to ensure a cohesive and unified design experience, leading decision-making processes, managing requests, and maintaining clear, effective communication throughout each project phase.

• User-Driven Problem Solving : Engage directly with customers to gather insights, develop prototypes, and use data and feedback to identify friction points and uncover improvement opportunities.

• Contribute to Partner Collaboration Initiatives : You’ll actively bring fresh ideas to foster stronger partnerships, proposing new collaboration methods and initiatives that enhance joint projects and drive mutual success.

• Engage in Team Rituals : Actively participate in design critiques, story creation, weekly stand-ups, and other team rituals to foster a collaborative and aligned design culture.

About the team:

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead key aspects of our platform’s design, guiding the user experience from prioritization through to launch and creating seamless, impactful experiences for a range of partners. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional and partner design teams, working independently to help steer decisions, bring fresh ideas, and keep everyone aligned. Your contributions will directly support Melio’s mission of empowering small businesses by enhancing our B2B payment platform.
