About this Role The Senior Operations Manager, Building Automation and Controls is a critical operational leadership role responsible for the end-to-end execution, team leadership, and financial performance of field operations within the assigned geographic region.
In this role, you will oversee the full project and service lifecycle - from initial contract handoff, bid review, and resource planning through project execution, installation, and field labor management. You will maintain operational efficiency, control project scope, and manage schedules and budgets to ensure operational and financial targets are consistently met.
Beyond internal management, you will serve as a strategic partner to Sales, working directly with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and external partners (such as Mechanical and Electrical contractors) to expand business opportunities, strengthen key client relationships, and ensure exceptional customer experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Performance • Direct and lead day-to-day operational teams to consistently meet and exceed planned deliverables while managing a high volume of concurrent tasks. • Drive operational excellence and ensure full achievement of the localized operations plan.
• Champion customer satisfaction by guaranteeing the organization meets or exceeds both customer expectations and sales goals.
• Strategically manage and reallocate personnel and resources as needed to improve delivery efficiency and overall results.
• Collaborate with national operations leaders and internal stakeholders to share best practices and maintain alignment with overarching company objectives.
• Administer, communicate, and enforce strict compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Project Management & Revenue • Oversee and manage end-to-end project execution in strict accordance with established project processes.
• Provide active direction and mentorship to Project Managers and Project Engineers to ensure project success.
• Direct revenue forecasting activities and establish clear performance standards aligned with business goals.
• Support Project Managers in identifying, securing, and processing change orders for out-of-scope work.
• Assist the Sales team by auditing contract documents, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate bid estimations.
Talent Management & Development • Lead all recruitment, hiring, and onboarding efforts for Project Managers, Project Engineers, System Specialist Supervisors, System Specialists, and Associate Project Managers.
• Design and execute coaching and training programs focused on advanced project management techniques to help teams achieve targets.
• Conduct routine coaching sessions (including field "ride-alongs") with staff and meet with key clients to deepen relationships.
Strategic & Customer Engagement • Partner with the Sales Manager to draft and execute strategic business plans for acquiring new accounts and retaining existing clients.
• Cultivate professional, strategic relationships with key prospective clients to better understand and fulfill needs within contract scopes
Required Qualifications • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration
• 5+ years of project experience in the commercial HVAC or building controls market
• 5+ years of experience in building automation systems (BAS), within Retail, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, HVAC Construction, Data Center, or Service
• 4+ years of experience leading and managing direct reports
• 2 + years of experience with project financial reporting, budget management, and P&L tracking
• 4+ years of experience with enterprise software suites, including Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) and MS Project
• Possess a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
• OSHA certification
Pay Range The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. Other Compensation This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
