We are seeking a  Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL)  to join our  Cell Therapy  team in the territory of  New England ! This role serves as the local medical voice of AZ in cell therapy and myeloma and will build a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory.

The MSL is an established field-based professional with extensive scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's cell therapy assets. 

  What you’ll do  • Develop and maintain scientific relationships with hematology/cell therapy thought leaders, investigators and appropriate HCPs across academic and community centers within an assigned territory • Engage in scientific exchanges with the multidisciplinary team, including treating hematologists/oncologists, cell therapy physicians, APPs, pharmacists, apheresis and cell processing staff and nursing • Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific and product information in accordance with company policy • Establish oneself as a trusted scientific advisor, peer and expert to both internal stakeholders and external HCPs (e.g. functions as an expert in response to scientific questions) • Educate cell therapy provider teams on disease state, CAR-T mechanism of action, multiple myeloma therapeutic landscape, safety and clinical management, manufacturing processes and data pertaining to the infusion center and patient management, guided by compliance considerations • Support the implementation of cell therapy infusions in cell therapy infusion centers by timely support of health care providers in navigating the complexity of cell therapy and diverse stakeholder groups  • Gather and synthesize site-level insights from site physician leadership, multiple HCP segments within the region and communicate with medical leadership and relevant internal partners • Identify data and educational gaps through discussion with External Scientific Experts (ESE) to inform medical affairs strategy and address unmet patient needs • Identify opportunities to partner with HCPs on disease state initiatives, collaborative research projects, and investigator sponsored research (ISR) of interest and in alignment with areas of scientific interest • Collaborate with key stakeholders across Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Research and Development (R&D) ​ • Support and represent Medical Affairs at relevant congresses and scientific meetings through scientific exchange with ESEs, medical booth coverage and sharing scientific and competitive insights

Minimum Qualifications  • Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline  • 5+ years of experience in hematology/oncology with at least 2 years in a field medical or equivalent scientific engagement role, preferably in cell therapy and/or multiple myeloma • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations and in small group dialogues with the ability to distill complexity down to key messages and scientific narrative for internal/external stakeholders • Experience supporting the development and/or launch of a new pharmaceutical product in the U.S. • Experience operating in a matrixed environment with cross-functional partners in Medical Affairs, Commercial and R&D • Ability to travel (40-60% by car, train and plane domestic) 

Preferred Qualifications  • Doctorate degree (e.g. MD or equivalent, PharmD or PhD) with oncology/hematology specialization preferred​ • Direct knowledge, experience and expertise in Hematology/Oncology Cell Therapy • Experience of working with headquarters and implementing HQ plans in field​ • Collaborative matrix management skills within diverse groups to achieve excellent results in shared goals​ • A track record of building and maintaining a deep continued connection to medical practice/healthcare delivery​ • Working knowledge of FDA and GMP requirements, industry rules and regulations governing cell therapy quality manufacturing and field based medical roles​

The territory includes Boston . You should live within this territory.
