What will you do? A day in the life of a Senior Manager, Store Design at VF looks a little like this. As a cross-brand Store Design leader on the VF Real Estate and Construction team, you will translate brand-led creative direction into scalable, buildable, and commercially relevant retail environments across VF’s portfolio. This role is accountable for executional design leadership, technical design development, and project-level delivery in partnership with Real Estate, Construction, Visual Merchandising, Merchandising, Operations, external agencies, vendors, and construction partners.
The strategy, consumer narrative, brand voice, and creative guardrails sit with each brand and the Brand Creative leader under the CMO organization. This role partners closely with those brand and creative leaders to ensure every store, fixture program, environmental element, and physical retail expression is executed with fidelity to the approved brand strategy while meeting construction, budget, schedule, operational, and scalability requirements.
This is a cross-brand role, not a role dedicated to one brand. The Senior Manager will flex across assigned VF brands and formats, bringing strong retail design judgment, disciplined execution, and a practical understanding of how concepts move from creative intent to physical space. Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more. • Translate brand-led creative strategy, design principles, and consumer experience direction into executable retail design solutions across assigned VF brands. • Partner with brand leadership and Brand Creative leaders under the CMO organization to understand the intended consumer narrative, brand voice, creative guardrails, and priorities for each concept or project. • Lead design development and execution strategies in partnership with Real Estate and Construction, ensuring concepts can be delivered within approved scope, budget, timing, lease conditions, code requirements, and field realities. • Create, review, and refine architectural plans, space plans, fixture plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, material palettes, environmental graphics, and related design documentation. • Manage the handoff from approved brand direction to project execution, ensuring the final built environment reflects the approved brand intent without shifting strategic ownership away from the brand. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Visual Merchandising, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Marketing, Procurement, Finance, Real Estate, Construction, vendors, and external design partners to support aligned project delivery. • Prepare design presentations, regional store guidelines, fixture packages, project briefs, and approval materials that help leaders and partners make clear decisions. • Support prototype development, remodels, refreshes, shop-in-shops, partner retail concepts, fixture programs, value engineering, and scalable rollout solutions across brands and retail formats. • Act as the design execution liaison between brand creative teams, Real Estate, Construction, vendors, fabricators, agencies, and subcontractors, including site and vendor visits as needed to review fabrication, installation, and quality. • Identify risks, dependencies, cost pressures, timeline concerns, and execution gaps early, then partner with the appropriate functional owners to resolve them. • Champion consistency, quality, sustainability-minded solutions, and operational practicality in physical retail environments while respecting each brand’s distinct creative identity. • Maintain a current understanding of retail design, materials, fixtures, customer experience, culture, product storytelling, and competitive retail environments to inform strong executional recommendations.
What do you need to succeed? We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundational skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. While a formal architectural education and applicable undergraduate or architecture degree are nice to have, we are most interested in 7+ years of technically progressive experience designing and delivering retail environments, with demonstrated experience translating brand identity, storytelling, and consumer experience direction into built retail spaces. The foundation skills you will need in this position are: • A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, technical design development, built outcomes, and the ability to translate brand identity into physical retail environments. • Proven 2D and 3D concept visualization expertise, from hand sketching through polished presentation renderings and technical documentation. • Experience working in a cross-brand, matrixed, or multi-stakeholder environment where strategy and execution are owned by different teams. • Strong understanding of retail architecture, interiors, fixtures, materials, lighting, environmental graphics, fabrication, installation, and construction coordination. • Ability to partner effectively with brand creative teams while maintaining practical discipline around budget, schedule, scope, code, operations, and constructability. • Comfort using design and technical software tools such as Rhino, Enscape, VRay, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Keynote, and related platforms. Grasshopper, Unreal, or AR/VR/XR experience is a plus. • Demonstrated success supporting retail concept rollouts, store remodels, refresh programs, fixture prototypes, partner retail environments, and value-engineering efforts. • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate tradeoffs clearly to brand, creative, construction, and business stakeholde
