The Senior Manager, Social Media Strategy leads Huron's global social media strategy and content direction across all channels and geographies, shaping how the Huron brand shows up externally. This role owns a living social strategy end-to-end, balances hands-on content creation and event support with strategic direction-setting, and educates and enables subject matter experts (SMEs) and employees across the enterprise to serve as strong brand representatives through employee advocacy resources. The Senior Manager works as a strategic partner with Communications and Marketing to support social and digital content needs, consistently advancing enterprise goals of growing people, margins, and revenue, and balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy • Own Huron’s global social media channel strategy (defining the distinct role, audience, and content mix for each platform) and continuously evolve the channel portfolio, expanding, consolidating, or retiring channels as business priorities and audience behavior shift.
• Align social content and campaigns to business development priorities, connecting Huron's expertise with clients and prospects to support pipeline and growth goals.
Content Direction & Creation • Set content direction and campaign priorities for the Social team and content creators to execute against, providing clear briefs and quality standards. • Actively lead hands-on content development, including interviews, on-site shoot direction, and SME content creation for high-visibility and executive moments. • Travel an estimated 15-20% of the year to lead or support content creation for: • Executive and leadership visibility moments • Industry conferences • HR and recruiting events • Major internal and enterprise-wide gatherings
• Own organic social media strategy, collaborate closely with Digital Marketing to shape an effective, strategic paid media approach that is fully aligned with organic content and channel priorities.
Cross-Functional & Business Partnership • Represent enterprise-wide goals in social strategy, aligning priorities across business areas rather than a single function. • Partner with Marketing leaders and business unit leadership shaping how social supports campaigns and business priorities. • Partner with HR on employer-brand and talent-related content.
Visibility & Thought Leadership • Partner with business and industry leaders and SMEs to translate their expertise into externally facing social content (e.g., LinkedIn thought-leadership posts, expert commentary, video features). • Support leader and SME visibility on social specifically, helping position them as credible voices and go-to sources within social conversations relevant to their expertise.
SME Enablement & Employee Advocacy • Lead Huron Connect, Huron's employee advocacy platform, including strategy, adoption, and content pipeline. • Recruit, train, and coach content managers, SMEs, and employee advocates, and build the tools and education that help them authentically and effectively represent the Huron brand on their own channels. • Guide the organization through change as social strategy, tools, and expectations evolve.
Governance, Reputation & Issue Support • Serve as final approver of content and brand presentation across all social channels, maintaining visual and voice consistency across channels and geographies. • Own social governance processes and editorial standards, maintaining alignment with Communications, Marketing (including Brand), and Content teams. • Monitor social channels for negative sentiment, reputational risk, and emerging issues, exercising judgement on when and how to escalate to the appropriate Communication, Legal, or HR partner. • Support issue- and crisis-related communications on social, including message development, holding statements, and cross-functional alignment during sensitive moments.
Measurement & Reporting • Synthesize channel-level reporting into strategic insights and recommendations that connect social performance to business outcomes, not vanity metrics. • Track performance against campaign goals and always-on content using KPIs such as engagement quality, audience growth, reach, and content performance by channel and format. • Prioritize proactive engagement signals including reactions, shares/reposts, comments, and clicks, to understand how audiences engage with content, and apply these insights to improve what’s produced platform-to-platform. • Monitor trends and the competitive landscape, recommending strategy shifts and setting the team's test-and-learn agenda.
Team Leadership & Development • Manage, develop, and grow the Social team, setting priorities and quality standards while empowering ownership of execution. • Coach the team and broader organization on social and content skills and brand standards.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field. • 8-10+ years of progressive social media, digital content creation, marketing, or corporate communications
