About this role

About the Team

New Verticals is building and scaling new ways to delight our customers beyond restaurant delivery.

Our Central Operations is responsible for delivery quality and efficiency across all sides of our marketplace. We do this by identifying efficiencies, building product tooling, and launching operational processes at scale. You will own metrics, pull operational and product levers, and drive impactful results across our Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol and Retail businesses.

About the Role

You'll own the operational engine behind DoorDash's ground truth AI platform — responsible for building and scaling the technology that collects in-store data across tens of thousands of physical store locations and translating that data into measurable improvements in inventory accuracy, Dasher pick time, and customer selection. This means everything from designing the systems that capture real-time shelf data, to defining how that data flows into downstream product experiences for customers, Dashers, and merchant partners.

You'll lead high-impact initiatives from concept to execution — defining strategy, building roadmaps, partnering cross-functionally across product, engineering, and ML, and using data to continuously optimize outcomes. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on customer experience, operational efficiency, and business growth. Success requires strong ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to translate complex, multi-stakeholder tradeoffs into clear decisions and action.

This role will directly manage a team and report into a Director on our Strategy & Operations team. We operate in a hybrid model and are looking for someone based in New York as the majority of our team is here. We spend time working together in-office and remotely.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

• Build. You’ll have your fingerprints all over DoorDash’s next big business. You’ll do whatever it takes to launch, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high-level strategy to nitty-gritty operational details.

• Strategize . From first principles, you’ll develop the optimal strategy for best serving our customers.

• Analyze. You’ll assess the operational and financial impacts of your decisions, and iterate based on data.

• Lead and collaborate. You’ll work with a cross-functional team, including product, engineering, ML, design, and operations, and lead your own pod to build this new line of business for DoorDash.

• Scale. Take a nascent platform to the majority of DoorDash's non-restaurant GMV — managing the complexity of thousands of stores, multiple data sources, and a multi-modal ML stack.

• Own a platform, not a project. The ground truth platform powers inventory accuracy, customer selection, Dasher pick time, catalog, and pricing. You'll shape what gets built and how it scales across the organization.

• Operate at the frontier of physical-digital AI. Work at the intersection of computer vision, in-store logistics, artificial intelligence and marketplace health — a genuinely novel problem space.

We’re excited about you because…

• You solve problems from first principles. You’re excited to solve problems in innovative ways, and you resist “this is how it’s always been done” thinking.

• You’re equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team. No job is beneath you.

• You’re unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environments

• You’re analytical. You let data win arguments, and you’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL or modeling in Excel.

• You’re technical. You have experience owning metrics with complex, multi-input attribution; comfort partnering with ML and engineering on technical tradeoffs; prior experience in marketplace ops, fulfillment, or data-intensive platform environments a plus.

• You have 8+ years of experience . You’ve succeeded in high-performance cultures (whether in tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience).

• You are a leader. You have 2+ years of experience managing high-performing teams.

• You have completed your BS/BA Degree, ideally a business or engineering focused concentration. An MBA is a plus!
