This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Senior Manager – Avionics Hardware Engineering This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for the transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. In this role, you would directly impact the history of space exploration. Your dedicated commitment and attention to detail would further the cause of safe and repeatable spaceflight for Blue Origin’s next-generation Lunar Landers—an opportunity to leave your fingerprints on the history of crewed spaceflight. As a Senior Manager of Avionics Hardware Engineering, you will lead and manage an organization responsible for the development, delivery, and lifecycle support of avionics hardware for Lunar Landers, including flight computers, input/output (I/O) units, embedded controllers, and associated ruggedized electronic hardware assemblies. You will provide both strategic leadership and deep technical guidance, ensuring your teams deliver reliable, high-quality products that meet program objectives, technical requirements, and mission-assurance standards. Responsibilities: • Lead and develop a high-performing avionics hardware engineering organization responsible for Lunar Lander flight computers, I/O units, embedded controllers, and associated analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal electronic hardware. • Set the technical vision, organizational strategy, staffing plan, product roadmaps, engineering processes, tools, and development standards needed to support current and future Lunar Permanence programs. • Lead integrated product development across electrical and PCB design, mechanical enclosure and packaging design, embedded software, FPGA development, controls engineering, and system interfaces from requirements and architecture through qualification, production, and sustaining engineering. • Partner with systems engineering, program and product management, mission assurance, manufacturing, supply chain, test, and operations to manage technical risks and deliver safe, reliable, manufacturable products that meet program cost, schedule, and performance objectives. • Build, retain, and develop a right-sized organization through hiring, workforce planning, performance management, compensation and promotion decisions, coaching, technical development, and embodiment of Blue Origin leadership principles and Lunar Permanence culture.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline. • 10+ years of experience in avionics, electrical hardware, embedded systems, aerospace, or another high-reliability hardware development environment, including experience with complex electronic or electromechanical products. • 5+ years of people-leadership experience, including responsibility for hiring, performance management, employee development, compensation, and promotion decisions. • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and integrated development spanning electrical hardware, mechanical packaging, embedded software, FPGA development, controls engineering, or comparable disciplines. • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications: • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline. • Experience developing avionics or other safety-critical, mission-critical, or human-rated aerospace hardware. • Experience with integrated avionics product development, including PCB assemblies, embedded software, FPGA development, controls interfaces, mechanical enclosures, thermal design, and environmental qualification. • Experience with spaceflight hardware requirements and qualification, including vibration, shock, thermal-vacuum, EMI/EMC, radiation, reliability, and component derating. • Experience leading multiple teams or managers and delivering complex products from early concept through production and operational support.

  Base Pay Range for: WA applicants is $183,807.00 - $257,328.75 Other site ranges may differ
