We are searching for the best talent to join our Surgery team as a Senior Director, Clinical Affairs Surgery, Wound Closure & Healing located in Raritan, NJ.

Purpose:

Senior clinical leader responsible for co-defining and executing the evidence-generation strategy and clinical research portfolio for the Wound Closure & Healing business within J&J MedTech Surgery. Leads a team responsible for clinical study design and delivery, outcomes research, registries, and real-world evidence generation. Serves on the Wound Closure & Healing Operating Committee and advises the business president on outcomes and evidence strategies that support commercial objectives, market access, value demonstration, regulatory positioning, acquisition strategies, and clinician adoption.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Co-develop and implement a cohesive evidence-generation strategy that aligns clinical programs with product strategy, regulatory needs, reimbursement/HTA requirements, and commercial priorities across the Wound Closure and Healing portfolio. • Lead and grow a high-performing clinical research and outcomes team responsible for study design, protocol development, investigator engagement, study execution, and data interpretation. • Oversee design and execution of clinical trials, registries, observational studies, and real-world evidence studies that support indications and clinical adoption. • Drive clinical research programs that demonstrate safety, effectiveness, clinical utility, economic value, and patient outcomes important to surgeons and healthcare systems. • Represent clinical and evidence perspectives as a member of the Wound Closure & Healing Operating Committee; advise the business president and cross-functional leadership on risks, opportunities, timelines, and evidence priorities. • Collaborate closely with Regulatory, Quality, Medical Affairs, Health Economics & Market Access, Commercial Strategy, and Research & Development to ensure studies meet multi-stakeholder needs and are feasible operationally and commercially. • Lead clinical and evidence and diligence activities supporting deal models for external innovation/acquisitions for the Wound Closure & Healing business. • Co-manage relationships with external scientific partners, key opinion leaders, clinical investigators, CROs, and academic collaborators to ensure high-quality study execution and scientific credibility. • Ensure clinical evidence supports product claims, labeling opportunities, regulatory submissions. • Direct budget planning, resource allocation, vendor selection/oversight, and timelines for clinical and outcomes programs across the business. • Lead publication and scientific communication strategies to disseminate study findings in peer-reviewed journals and scientific meetings to support clinical adoption and thought leadership. • Mentor and develop clinical team members; build capabilities in modern trial designs, decentralized approaches, registry science, and advanced analytics for evidence generation.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Required • Clinical or scientific BA degree. • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in clinical research, outcomes research, or evidence generation in medtech, medical devices, or related industries; at least 5 years in a leadership role. • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering clinical trials, registries, and real-world evidence programs—ideally with direct exposure to surgical products or wound care modalities. • Strong understanding of outcomes research methods, health economics, and payer/HTA evidence requirements. • Proven ability to influence senior business leaders and operate effectively on an operating committee or equivalent executive team. • Experience managing vendor/CRO relationships and external investigator networks. • Knowledgeable of relevant regulatory and ethical requirements (e.g., FDA, EU MDR, GCP) and clinical evaluation/reporting expectations for medical devices. • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to translate clinical evidence into clear business recommendati
