Senior Director, AI Solution Architecture

What you will do Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will • Define and lead Amgen’s enterprise AI solution architecture strategy, translating complex business needs into scalable AI products, platforms, and capabilities.

Responsibilities . • Co-create high-impact AI solutions with cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, Operations, Commercial, and corporate functions. • Partner with senior business, product, technology, data, and AI leaders to scope large-scale AI initiatives and decompose ambiguous opportunities into executable solution pathways. • Develop solution blueprints that connect business objectives, user needs, AI/ML methods, data assets, platform capabilities, integration needs, governance, and measurable ROI. • Assess technical feasibility, value potential, implementation complexity, data readiness, operating model requirements, and adoption pathways for proposed AI initiatives. • Partner with AI engineering, data engineering, platform, architecture, product, security, privacy, legal, compliance, and domain teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, governed, and production-ready. • Establish reusable standards and frameworks for AI solution intake, prioritization, solution decomposition, value assessment, architecture review, and delivery readiness. • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing AI solution architecture function with strong technical, product, business, and stakeholder-management capabilities. Accountabilities • Enterprise AI solution architecture strategy aligned to Amgen’s scientific, business, technology, and product priorities. • High-quality solution decomposition for complex AI initiatives, including clear scope, architecture, delivery approach, value case, and implementation roadmap. • Translation of business opportunities into technically feasible, scalable, governed AI solutions that deliver measurable impact. • Prioritization of AI solution opportunities based on business value, feasibility, risk, adoption potential, and strategic alignment. • Consistent application of architecture standards, responsible AI practices, data readiness criteria, security requirements, and production-readiness expectations. • Cross-functional alignment across AI & Data Science, Technology, R&D, Operations, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Security, and business stakeholders.

  Authority • Set standards for AI solution scoping, architecture review, value assessment, delivery readiness, and implementation planning. • Approve solution architecture approaches, decomposition frameworks, technical trade-offs, and delivery pathways for priority AI initiatives. • Guide build-versus-buy recommendations, vendor evaluations, platform alignment, and solution integration decisions in partnership with accountable technology and business leaders. • Represent AI Solution Architecture in executive forums, portfolio reviews, and cross-functional governance discussions. • Structure, hire, develop, and performance-manage the AI solution architecture team, including leaders and senior technical experts. • Solution blueprints for priority AI initiatives, including business objectives, user outcomes, architecture design, data requirements, delivery approach, governance needs, and value measures. • Reusable solution patterns, intake frameworks, decomposition methods, and architecture standards that accelerate enterprise AI delivery. • Executive-ready decision materials that clearly communicate solution options, trade-offs, dependencies, investment needs, and business impact. • Measurable value realization across AI initiatives, including adoption, productivity, decision quality, operational efficiency, and ROI outcomes.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications • Doctorate degree and 4 years of AI, machine learning, data science, computer science, engineering, product, technology strategy, or related experience; or • Master’s degree and 6 years of AI, machine learning, data science, computer science, engineering, product, technology strategy, or related experience; or • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of AI, machine learning, data science, computer science, engineering, product, technology strategy, or related experience. • 4+ years of direct managerial experience, including experience managing managers or senior technical leaders. Preferred Qualifications • 12+ years of experience in AI/ML, data science, enterprise architecture, product management, technology strategy, or related leadership roles. • Proven track record designing, scaling, or leading enterprise AI prod
