Role summary We’re hiring a Senior Data Engineer to help treat data as a product at Granum. This role is responsible for building and operating trusted data products, governed datasets, and durable platform workflows that power analytics, AI, and operational decision-making across the company. You’ll help make data easier to trust, use, and scale by improving the systems, guardrails, and platform patterns that turn raw data into reliable products for teams across Granum.

How we work We expect engineers on this team to own outcomes end to end. That means identifying gaps early, driving decisions, communicating clearly, and delivering complete solutions rather than stopping at partial implementation. We value simple, durable platform patterns over unnecessary complexity. We use automation aggressively to reduce repetitive work, improve consistency, and increase team leverage.

Agentic development is a team expectation. This role is expected to adopt and contribute to agentic workflows as part of standard engineering practice.

What you’ll own • Build and maintain trusted internal data products that support analytics, AI, and operational workflows across Granum • Design and operate scalable data pipelines and platform workflows using Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Terraform, and related tooling • Improve data quality, validation, observability, and recoverability across critical datasets and workflows • Own semantic consistency across upstream models, downstream consumption layers, and governed business definitions • Design and implement governance controls including permissions, masking, privacy-aware access patterns, and durable operational guardrails • Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous data needs into reliable internal platform capabilities • Drive platform improvements proactively, including better automation, cleaner workflow design, and stronger operating patterns across the team • Contribute technical direction for internal data platform work and help raise the quality bar for how the team builds and operates data systems

Required qualifications: • Strong experience building and operating data platforms in Snowflake-centric environments • Strong experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework • Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tooling to manage platform infrastructure, permissions, and operational controls • Hands-on experience with a governed semantic or BI modeling layer (Omni, LookML, dbt Semantic Layer, or similar) • Experience designing reliable workflows for ingestion, transformation, validation, and scheduled operational processes, including CI/CD in GitHub. • Strong SQL skills and a track record of building trusted datasets for business and technical consumers • Demonstrated ownership of production-grade data systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident follow-through • Ability to communicate clearly, drive decisions, and take ambiguous work through to a complete outcome • Willingness and ability to work within a team where agentic development is an expected part of how engineering work gets done

Nice to have: • Experience with orchestration tools or pipeline frameworks such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or similar • Experience with BI and semantic-layer tools such as Omni or similar governed analytics platforms • Experience supporting AI-enabled workflows, internal tooling, or knowledge-driven applications • Experience with privacy, access control, and governance patterns in modern cloud data platforms • Experience working across multiple data domains or products with shared platform standards

Compensation:

• Estimated pay range for Canada-based candidates: CAD 170,000 - 190,000

• Estimated pay range for US-based candidates: USD 180,000-200,000

Reasons why you would love it here!
