About this role

Our mission at Asimov is to advance humanity's ability to design living systems, enabling biotechnologies with outsized benefit to society. We're developing a mammalian synthetic biology platform––from cells to software––to enable the design and manufacture of next-generation therapeutics.

We're seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to join our Synthetic Biology team on a 6 month contract. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record performing AAV and/or lentiviral vector stable producer cell line development in an industry setting. They will be a key contributor to our team, participating in the creation of stable producer cell lines for AAV and/or lentiviral vector therapeutics and research projects to improve our cell line development workflows. They will also work closely with Asimov’s synthetic biology and process development teams. This is a unique opportunity to work at a nimble, forward-thinking synthetic biology startup and help build the future of biological engineering.

About the Role:

- Perform AAV and/or lentiviral vector stable producer cell line development processes including transfection, cloning, characterization, and cell banking using state-of-the-art equipment

- Perform biological assays including ddPCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry

- Support innovation through development of novel workflows and applications

- Support research projects to develop viral vector therapeutics with enhanced quality attributes such as empty/full ratio, potency and/or cell targeting

- Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team in support of a synthetic biology design platform

- Design experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot, and maintain detailed records

- Represent the cell line development function on project teams, making decisions for cell line activities and effectively communicating results, progress and plans

- This is a full-time, 6-month contract position providing maternity leave coverage. While the role is intended to support this temporary need, there may be an opportunity to extend the contract or transition to a permanent position based on business needs.

About You:

- B.S or M.S. in Biological Engineering, Virology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in AAV and/or lentiviral vector producer cell line development in support of GMP production of cell or gene therapies

- Experience performing transfections, viral transductions, flow cytometry, and quantitative gene expression analyses (ddPCR, qPCR, ELISA) is highly desired

- Experience with viral genome engineering, and/or host cell genome engineering related to virus production or producer cell line technologies is highly desired

- Strong written and verbal communication skills required

We're fueled by a vision to transform biological engineering into a fully-fledged engineering discipline. Should you join our team, you will grow with a constantly evolving organization and push the frontiers of synthetic biology. Company culture is key to Asimov, and ours is a culture of recombination; we believe that our mission can only be achieved by bringing together a diverse team with a mixture of backgrounds and perspectives.
