Job Overview

The role of Senior Accountant exists to manage financial records, processes, and analyses to drive financial compliance and afford strategic decision making. The job helps the accounting team to provide timely and accurate financial information to the company by analyzing data and transactions, preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations. The senior accountant’s role demands strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, employed through cross-collaborative efforts and mentorship of more junior accounting roles.

This is a hybrid position and requires in office presence three days a week in Chicago (Tuesday-Thursday)

What you’ll bring to the table: (Responsibilities)

• Performing monthly and fiscal year-end close activities by performing timely and accurate journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.

• Preparing and analyzing financial statements, general ledgers, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance

• Owns performing account and bank statement reconciliations. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.

• Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, as well as forecasting future expenditures.

• Supporting a variety of external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.

• May lead accounts payable process to ensure proper coding and receipt of all invoices.

• Continually seeking and implementing opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology and process improvements.

• Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.

Do you have the right mix of ingredients: (Requirements)

• A bachelor's degree in accounting.

• Must have at least 3 years’ experience in accounting.

• Demonstrates strong technical accounting skills and an advanced knowledge of MS Excel.

• Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.

• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software.

• Managing a high volume of tasks and meet strict deadlines.

• Strong verbal and written communication is important for interacting with internal and external contacts.

• Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), standards and regulation.

What you’ll love about us:

• This is a full time, exempt position, and the base compensation for this opening is expected to be $90,000-$110,000 annualized, depending on level, candidate experience, skills and other factors. This position is eligible for a 7.5% bonus with a total compensation of $96,750-$118,250.
