About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This role will be a key owner of the company’s core accounting operations, including the monthly close, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll and benefits accounting, accounts payable and spend management, inter-company activity, audit support, tax compliance support, and process documentation.

The Senior Accountant will work across multiple areas of the close and help strengthen the processes, controls, and systems required to support a rapidly growing SaaS business. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with a high degree of ownership, sound judgment, and a practical approach to solving problems.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Director of Accounting and collaborate closely with FP&A, People Operations, and other cross-functional partners.

What You’ll Do

- Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including preparing journal entries, maintaining supporting schedules, and completing accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations.

- Review and approve U.S. and Canadian payrolls and own the related accounting, including payroll journal entries, reconciliations, employee benefits, bonuses, commission-related payments, and payroll-related liabilities.

- Own accounting for cash, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, fixed assets, operating expenses, intercompany activity, and other assigned general ledger accounts.

- Own accounts payable and spend-management operations, including Ramp administration, vendor onboarding and master-data controls, expense classification, payment approvals, annual 1099 support, and related reconciliations and controls.

- Review financial activity for completeness and accuracy, investigate unusual items and variances, and resolve issues before the close is finalized.

- Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

- Support the annual financial statement audit, 401(k) audit, income and franchise tax filings, and other compliance requirements by preparing schedules and responding to requests.

- Assist with the development, documentation, and execution of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

- Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual work, strengthen controls, improve accuracy, and make accounting processes more scalable.

- Identify accounting issues proactively, communicate them clearly, and drive them through resolution without waiting for step-by-step direction.

- Support ad hoc accounting analyses and special projects as the company continues to grow.

What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of significant portions of the month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to analyze financial statements and general ledger activity for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate accounting treatment.

- Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and well-supported accounting schedules.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution.

- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including experience working with large datasets, lookup and aggregation formulas, and building reliable supporting schedules.

- High attention to detail with the judgment to balance accuracy, materiality, and close deadlines.

- Ability to communicate accounting issues clearly and work effectively with both finance and non-finance partners.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently, take ownership of unfamiliar problems, and operate effectively when processes are still being developed.
