About this role

Position Overview United Health Services (UHS), a regional leader in respiratory care is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team. You will serve a diverse population—including inpatients, outpatients, UHS staff and employees, as well as affiliated community groups—working collaboratively to educate and deliver exceptional patient care.

UHS Offers

• Competitive starting pay of $33.63 per hour, with a structured career ladder offering growth based on experience and professional credentials • Primary Work Shift: Days or Nights (3) 12-hour shifts • Sign-on bonus up to $15,000 for experienced candidates, along with relocation assistance for eligible candidates • $20,000 tuition reimbursement for new graduates of accredited Respiratory Therapy programs, with ongoing support for continued education and career advancement

 There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. Your recruiter and hiring manager will clarify expectations during the interview process.

Primary Work Shift: Rotational Compensation Range: $33.63 - $50.45 per hour, depending on experience You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Job Responsibilities Respiratory Care & Therapeutic Procedures • Deliver respiratory therapies including aerosol, MDI, incentive spirometry, and oxygen therapy across approved devices • Perform secretion mobilization treatments such as CPT/Flutter, cough assist, and vest therapy • Conduct airway management procedures including suctioning and extubation • Execute therapist-driven protocols, including patient assessments and care adjustments • Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis

Advanced Respiratory Support • Manage non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP) and associated alarms • Monitor and manage high-flow nasal cannula and humidified oxygen therapy • Oversee mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarm systems

Diagnostics & Cardiopulmonary Testing • Perform pulmonary function screening, stress testing, and pulse oximetry • Assist with bronchoscopy procedures and maintain equipment readiness • Conduct EKG testing (adult and pediatric) and Holter monitor setup

Emergency Response • Provide CPR and life support for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients

Clinical Systems & Medication Management • Maintain accurate patient records in Epic Electronic Health Record Systems and document all treatments and results • Manage medication administration processes, including MAR and Pyxis systems • Verify physician orders prior to performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Infection Control & Compliance • Clean and disinfect bronchoscopes according to infection control standards • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, safety protocols, and delivery standards

Administrative & Team Support • Maintain departmental records and documentation in compliance with policy • Assist with staff education, in-service programs, and team training initiatives

Position Qualifications Minimum Required: • Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy • New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License • BLS/CPR Certification upon hire and ACLS within three (3) months of hire

Preferred: • One (1) year experience as a Respiratory Therapist
