About this role

ROLE :  FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a general assignment multimedia journalist for our broadcast, digital and social platforms.  A successful applicant will have a proven ability to enterprise stories that connect with audiences across all devices and platforms.  The candidate needs to be highly driven, resourceful, and nimble.  The candidate also needs to excel in ad-libbing, storytelling, and be digitally savvy.  This position requires the multimedia journalist to shoot, write, edit vosots and packages.  A typical day could involve general assignment reporting with live shots or returning to station to host/produce or participate in live streaming programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Accurate and balanced reporting of news stories following company standards for journalistic integrity and quality • Shoot, write, and edit stories ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strong storytelling • Contributes to our digital platforms by writing web articles or producing/hosting programs for our CTV streaming app or producing reels for our social accounts • Creatively present stories in ways that engage today’s audiences, tailoring content for different devices and platforms • Must be able to ad-lib breaking news fluently with a strong ability to interact with anchors • Collaborate with photographer, producer, assignment desk on live shots as needed • Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitches original story ideas • Develop community contacts and a network of news sources • Attends station partnerships in community • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism, communication or equivalent related experience   • Prefer 3-5 years TV news reporting experience in a medium to large market • News videography, editing and livestreaming experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: • Must interact positively and productively with other employees and in the field • Exceptional writing, grammar and spelling, technical formatting • Excellent communication skills with ability to ad-lib when required  • Strong on-air presentation – must be credible, personable and engaging  • Excellent time management skills maintaining strong attention to detail • Excellent editing skills with Adobe Premiere and video camera/news photography skills  • Ability to carry 25-30 pounds of equipment  • Flexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content   • Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback • Compensation starting at $33.65/hour commensurate with experience and skill level. • #LI-Onsite
