About this role

Ascent Developmental Group (powered by Alpaca Health) is seeking a Behavior Analyst Trainee who is actively working toward BCBA certification and wants more than a traditional RBT position.

This role combines direct clinical experience with structured opportunities to develop the skills needed to become an effective Behavior Analyst. The Behavior Analyst Trainee will provide in-home ABA services while working closely with BCBAs on assessment, treatment planning, programming, data analysis, caregiver support, and other behavior-analytic activities.

The trainee will also serve in an apprenticeship role to Ascent’s Owner and Executive Clinical Director, providing exposure to advanced clinical decision-making, leadership, program development, and the broader responsibilities of practicing as a BCBA.

This position is designed for someone who wants to intentionally prepare for the transition from RBT to Behavior Analyst—not simply accumulate supervision hours.

Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality, individualized direct ABA services to clients in their homes.

- Implement treatment plans and collect accurate clinical data.

- Collaborate closely with supervising BCBAs regarding client progress and clinical needs.

- Assist BCBAs with assessments, data analysis, treatment planning, and program development.

- Participate in supervised restricted and unrestricted behavior-analytic activities.

- Develop competency in clinical decision-making, case conceptualization, caregiver collaboration, and treatment modification.

- Participate in ongoing mentorship, professional development, and clinical training.

- Complete documentation accurately and within required timelines.

- Communicate professionally with clients, caregivers, supervisors, and other members of the treatment team.

- Maintain RBT certification and adhere to applicable ethical and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must:

- Hold current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

- Have at least 6 months of experience working in ABA.

- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.

- Be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis or a related program meeting BCBA educational requirements.

- Be actively accruing supervised experience hours toward BCBA certification.

- Be available to work Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

- Have reliable transportation and be comfortable providing services in clients’ homes.

- Be willing to travel to clients located approximately within 30 miles of their home.

Compensation & Benefits

Ascent is committed to making the trainee experience both professionally valuable and financially sustainable.

Benefits include:

- $26–$30/hour Guaranteed minimum of 35 hours per week

- Paid supervised experience hours, including both restricted and unrestricted activities

- Mileage reimbursement

- Technology stipend

- Health insurance reimbursement

- Conference registration stipend

- RBT Professional Development Units (PDUs) provided

- Ongoing clinical mentorship and professional development

- Direct apprenticeship with the Owner/Executive Clinical Director

- BCBA exam passing bonus

Who We’re Looking For

The strongest candidate will be someone who is curious, dependable, receptive to feedback, and serious about becoming an excellent Behavior Analyst. We are especially interested in trainees who want to understand the why behind clinical decisions, develop strong professional judgment, and take an active role in their own development.

At Ascent, supervised fieldwork is not treated as an administrative requirement. It is preparation for the responsibility of becoming a BCBA. Work Authorization US Citizen / Permanent Resident
