ABOUT MIRA MACE
Mira Mace is a venture-backed company on a mission to help people navigate a complicated healthcare system with clarity and confidence. We pair people-centered navigation with technology so patients understand their care, stay connected to their providers, and get to the resources they need. Our advocates cut through insurance denials, medication costs, transportation gaps, and paperwork so patients get what they need — without fighting alone.
ABOUT THE RAPID RESPONSE TEAM
This is a new team built for the moments that can't wait. A medication someone can't afford today. A denial the day before a procedure. A discharge with no plan and no ride home. When a high-urgency case comes in, the Rapid Response Team takes it and stays on it until it's solved. Someone is always on — nights, weekends, holidays. If it lands Friday night, the team is on it.
This is non-clinical navigation support. You won't be giving medical advice — you'll be removing the obstacles between people and the care they're entitled to. Most cases resolve in 2–3 days, and speed with follow-through is the whole job.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Take cases that reach you already triaged: our healthcare ops team confirms the essentials first — insurance, needs, level of urgency, clinical history — then assigns the case to you
- Read the case and build an execution plan: what has to happen, in what order, how fast
- Work the plan using the resource directories we give you — and when they're not enough, go find your own
- Keep ops in the loop as you go: progress, blockers, what you need to move faster
- Call the patient — to share progress, to ask about anything you're unsure of, and so they know someone is fighting for them
- Document every interaction and support activity in our platform, accurately and as you go, so handoffs across a 24/7 team are seamless
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, privacy, and all applicable platform standards
WHO YOU ARE
- Deeply empathetic. You stay warm and steady with people on one of the worst days of their life.
- Wired with urgency. You treat every case like it's your own family on the line.
- Relentless. Busy signals, hold music, "call back Monday," "that's not covered" — you push through all of it until the problem is solved.
- A planner who acts. You turn a messy case into a sequence of concrete next steps, then start making calls.
- A clear communicator on the phone and in writing, who builds trust fast and explains confusing things simply.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- An active LPN/LVN license; or Community Health Worker (CHW) certification; or equivalent community health / patient-navigation experience.
- 2+ years of patient- or community-facing support experience (care coordination, case management, member advocacy, health coaching, benefits navigation, or similar).
- Working knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and insurance.
- Comfort working independently, managing multiple urgent cases at once, and maintaining strong documentation.
- Reliable computer, internet, and a quiet space for patient calls.
Preferred
- Experience supporting older adults or patients with complex or serious illness.
- Experience in urgent or high-tempo settings (triage desks, crisis lines, ED or discharge coordination).
- Familiarity with Medicaid and other public programs.
- Bilingual — Spanish, or another language common among the patients we serve.
THE ARRANGEMENT
This is a remote, 1099 independent contractor role on a team that covers 24/7. We're looking for advocates who can commit at least 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to work up to 40. Shifts span a 7-day schedule — including evenings, weekends, and holidays — plus an on-call rotation for overnight coverage. Reliability matters more here than anywhere else: urgent cases don't wait for Monday.
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes, and this is not a benefitted role.
RATE
$20–$30 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, licensure, availability, and language skills. Compensation covers approved service time, including patient support, documentation, and required administrative communications.
