About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Public Sector Finance and Compliance Manager to lead high-impact accounting advisory and internal audit engagements. You’ll manage engagements from planning through delivery, lead and develop teams, and advise clients on technical accounting matters, strengthening internal controls, managing risk, and navigating evolving financial and regulatory requirements. This is an opportunity to combine your technical expertise with leadership and client advisory skills while helping public sector organizations improve how they operate and serve their stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. • Relevant experience in public sector external financial statement audit, single audit, or accounting advisory services including experience leading engagements and teams. • Experience working with public sector, governmental, higher education, or other regulated organizations. • Strong knowledge of applicable standards and frameworks, including GAAP, GASB, Yellow Book, and/or Uniform Guidance. • Experience managing engagement scope, budgets, resources, timelines, testing, and deliverables. • Strong client relationships, communication, project management, and team leadership skills. • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.

Preferred Skills • Experience leading complex public sector financial statement audit, single audit, or accounting advisory engagements. • Strong understanding of governmental accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, federal grant compliance, and regulatory requirements. • Ability to translate complex audit and compliance findings into practical, actionable recommendations for clients. • Experience coaching and developing team members while managing multiple engagements or workstreams. • Advanced Excel and data analytics skills, with an interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve audit quality, insights, and efficiency. • Familiarity with engagement and resource management platforms such as Workday, Retain, or similar tools. • Strong executive presence and ability to build trusted relationships with client leadership.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
