What we want The Project Manager I manages project activities including developing, implementing, tracking timelines and deliverables, and providing periodic evaluations and reports for projects that are generally small in scope, in this case, our Together for a Better Tomorrow program activities.
What you need to know Schedule: This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Travel: This position requires periodic travel to South Texas and other project locations. Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.
Responsibilities: Project Management • Manages project activities including, but not limited to, developing and implementing work plans, protocols, procedures, timelines, guidelines, and project materials.
• Tracks milestones and deliverables.
• Prepares periodic reports and updates, including providing periodic evaluations.
• Supports research, policy, community-engagement, and evaluation activities, including surveys, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, Community Advisory Board meetings, and Community water circle workshops.
Project Management Support • Coordinates project activities, records, resources, meetings, and communication in conjunction with leadership team and internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are in line with business strategies and in accordance with project management standards.
• Coordinates meeting and workshop logistics, invited speakers, participant communications, materials, attendance records, and follow-up activities.
Project Planning • Conducts background research and assists with qualitative and quantitative data collection, organization, and analysis.
• Prepares briefs, reports, presentations, meeting summaries, resource materials, and other project products.
• Establishes project goals, identifies implementation needs, resolves routine project issues, and conducts meetings with team members and stakeholders to coordinate activities.
• Establishes goals that support our "Together for a Better Tomorrow" project delivery, problem solves, and periodically conducts meetings with team members and stakeholders to schedule and coordinate those activities
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, public administration, international affairs, public health, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of related experience in areas such as project management or implementation, research support, stakeholder coordination, data management, reporting, and short- and long-term planning.
Preferred Qualifications: • Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Master’s degree in international affairs, public policy, public administration, political science, public health, social sciences, or a related field.
• Experience coordinating research, policy, academic, public-service, or grant-funded projects.
• Experience preparing professional briefs, reports, presentations, research summaries, or meeting materials.
• Experience conducting qualitative or quantitative research, policy analysis, literature reviews, or program evaluation.
• Experience coordinating meetings, workshops, trainings, public events, invited speakers, or external stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, R, SPSS, Google Workspace, or similar data-management and productivity tools.
• Experience supervising or coordinating students, interns, volunteers, or project team members.
• Experience supporting interdisciplinary work related to public health, environmental issues, infrastructure, community development, or public policy.
• Familiarity with community-engaged research, Community Advisory Boards, water security, or South Texas communities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (speaking, reading, & writing).
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
• Department of State Health Services (DSHS) certification, certified CHW and/or CHWI, Promotora Certification of Training, or ability to successfully complete Promotora Certification.
• Public relations and marketing experience.
• Experience with community-based participatory research efforts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Strong research, writing, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex research, policy, and program information into clear materials.
• Ability to coordinate multiple assignments, timelines, partners, and deliverables.
• Ability to positively and professionally interact with community members, university personnel, public agencies, organizational partners, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain attention to detail, and resolve routine project-management issues.
