About this role
About Etched
Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference. Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.
Job Summary
As AI models become larger, more capable, and more widely deployed, the economics of compute increasingly determine what products can be built, how they are priced, and how quickly they can scale. We are looking for a Product Finance Lead to own the financial strategy behind our products from silicon economics through customer monetization. This role will connect product cost, manufacturing, supply, pricing, and margin into a single view of the business, helping Etched make the highest-leverage decisions across our product roadmap.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who genuinely loves to model and is energized by hard, ambiguous questions. You will work across Product, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, GTM, and Finance to understand the economics of what we build, what it costs to produce, how we bring it to market, and where we should invest next. You will be expected to form a point of view, defend it with rigorous analysis, and drive decisions. A deep interest in AI infrastructure and an understanding of semiconductor and hardware economics will make you especially effective here.
Key Responsibilities
- Own product economics end to end. Build and maintain the financial models connecting semiconductor and system costs, manufacturing yields, supply commitments, customer demand, pricing, and gross margin.
- Drive pricing and monetization strategy. Partner with Product and go-to-market teams to evaluate pricing, packaging, customer economics, and commercial structures across Etched's product portfolio.
- Own the financial lens on the product roadmap. Build business cases for new products and major roadmap investments, including opportunity sizing, cost structure, expected margins, capital requirements, and returns.
- Partner deeply with manufacturing and supply chain. Model wafer, packaging, component, inventory, supply, and purchase commitments across quarterly and multi-year forecasts, helping determine manufacturing volumes and timing.
- Understand the drivers of product cost. Develop performance measures for major cost drivers, including yields, manufacturing volumes, supplier economics, new product ramps, and supply agreements, and identify opportunities to improve product margins.
- Translate AI infrastructure economics into financial decisions. Develop a detailed understanding of how performance, power, system architecture, and total cost of ownership translate into customer value and Etched's pricing and margin opportunities.
- Shape investment decisions. Evaluate competing product, manufacturing, and commercial investments and make clear recommendations about where Etched should deploy capital and resources.
- Own inventory and supply economics. Analyze inventory levels, purchase commitments, supply availability, and demand scenarios to help Etched balance growth, customer commitments, and working capital.
- Build the financial operating system for the product. Establish dashboards, forecasting processes, and metrics that give leadership a clear view of product costs, supply, pricing, margins, inventory, and performance.
- Make our processes scale. Automate and redesign financial models, systems, and workflows as Etched moves from product development into increasingly complex manufacturing and commercial operations.
- Drive executive decision-making. Turn complex product, manufacturing, and financial data into concise, opinionated recommendations for leadership.
- Partner with Finance counterparts on forecasting, planning, monthly and quarterly close processes, and company-wide financial strategy.
You may be a good fit if you have
- Significant experience in finance, strategy, or another analytically rigorous role, with demonstrated ownership of complex financial or operational decisions.
- Exceptional financial modeling skills. You can build sophisticated operating models from the ground up and genuinely enjoy doing it.
- Experience with product cost, manufacturing, inventory, supply planning, or hardware unit economics.
- Ability to take an ambiguous question, structure the analysis, develop a point of view, and independently drive it through to a decision.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large, messy datasets to identify the few insights that actually matter.
- The judgment and conviction to make recommendations with imperfect information, paired with the willingness to update your view as new information emerges.
- Strong cross-functional instincts and the ability to work effectively with technical, operational, commercial, and finance teams.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to translate complicated financial and technical concepts into clear recommendations for executives and non-finance audiences.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency.
Strong candidates may also have experience with
- Experience in semiconductors, AI infrastructure, data center hardware, or another technically complex hardware business.
- Deep familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing economics, including wafers, yields, packaging, components, inventory, purchase commitments, and product ramps.
- Experience owning pricing, monetization, or product finance for a hardware or infrastructure product.
- Experience evaluating customer total cost of ownership and translating technical performance advantages into pricing and commercial strategy.
- Experience building or improving financial systems, dashboards, and automated
