About Betterment
Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease. We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).
About the Role:
Betterment’s mission is to empower people to do what’s best for their money so that they can live better. We’re looking for a Product Designer to create compelling and impactful growth experiences that engage our prospective B2B customers and improve our high level acquisition funnels. You will bring creative, analytical, and technical design skills to collaborate closely with a strong cross-functional team and stakeholders across our two B2B lines of business: Betterment at Work, which provides modern financial benefits to today’s diverse workforce and Betterment Advisor Solutions, a platform for registered investment advisors to efficiently manage their clients’ assets.
At Betterment, we hire designers who are passionate about personal finance, and building intuitive, delightful experiences for customers to manage their money. You approach problems holistically, and are self-motivated, learning new skills quickly, with a sense for what you’ll develop next. We seek out folks who are talented and eager to both learn from their colleagues and help make them better. As a design team, we're focused and always strive for excellence.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
• New York City: $121,000 - $143,000
This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.
A Day in the Life:
• Design and iterate on key web-driven acquisition flows, funnels, and tools that drive growth, balancing business goals and user needs—owning all aspects of design for your projects from inception through launch

• Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, brand designers, content strategists, product design, marketing, and many others, working closely in cross-disciplinary teams across business-to-business and consumer-facing product areas
• Help shape our product direction by identifying new opportunities, proposing A/B tests, and staying current with design, industry, and competitor trends
• Leverage AI tools across your design workflow, using them to sharpen problem framing, accelerate exploration, and prototype ideas faster—bringing judgment to know when and how to apply them effectively, and sharing learnings with the broader team
• Invest in your craft as part of a talented, supportive design team that values open feedback and works toward a unified customer experience across all touchpoints
What We’re Looking For:
• 3+ years of relevant experience as a product designer (previous titles may have been different)
• Portfolio of extraordinary product design work that demonstrates a strong visual design foundation, positive business impact and experience shipping designs to real people, across web and mobile
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
• Strong collaborative skills with experience working through lots of cross-functional feedback
