About this role

At Jabil (NYSE: JBL), we are proud to be a trusted partner for the world's top brands, offering comprehensive engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions. With 60 years of experience across industries and a vast network of over 100 sites worldwide, Jabil combines global reach with local expertise to deliver both scalable and customized solutions. Our commitment extends beyond business success as we strive to build sustainable processes that minimize environmental impact and foster vibrant and diverse communities around the globe.   How will you make an impact?

We are seeking a highly skilled, technically proficient and detail-oriented Principal Rack Mechanical Architect within the Intelligent Infrastructure Segment to lead the architecture, design, integration, and delivery of power electronics solutions for large-scale deployments. This role is critical in translating customers’ requirements into robust, scalable, and manufacturable mechanical systems for next-gen AI/ML (GPU/CPU), power, cloud infrastructure, and network deployments. This person will oversee end‑to‑end development – from scoping and integration through validation and deployment – while driving cross‑functional collaboration, technical innovation, and continuous improvement across enterprise and hyperscale datacenter programs.

What will you do? • Create technical documentation, including rack assembly instructions, 2D mechanical drawings, test reports, SOPs, and customer‑facing specifications. • Translate complex power electronics designs into manufacturable products by working closely with site manufacturing, quality, and operations teams. • Lead training, process development, production readiness reviews, and factory enablement activities to ensure a smooth transition from engineering development to high-volume production. • Develop and maintain design documentation including BOMs, specifications, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs). • Strong understanding of thermal management, magnetics design, EMI/EMC compliance, safety standards, and product reliability requirements. • Assemble, fit‑check, and mechanically integrate complex rack systems, including liquid loop components, quick‑disconnects, manifolds, and power distribution. • Leads the specification and validation of rack‑level power architecture, including power distribution unit (PDU) selection, detailed power budget and load‑balancing calculations (wye vs. delta, 3ph vs. 1ph), and compatibility with global power plug and connector standards. • Understanding of rack installation constraints, maintenance access, and serviceability in rack mechanical infrastructure. • Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand deployment constraints (white-glove services) and gather feedback for design improvements. • Create detailed computer aided design (CAD) models and fabrication drawings, including weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts. • Develop and maintain design documentation including bill of materials (BOMs), cable BOMs, alternate sourcing strategies, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs). • Manage relationships with mechanical component vendors, including rack, PDUs, switches, cables, and packaging solutions. • Perform advanced structural analysis using FEA tools to validate mechanical integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.

• Lead mechanical design reviews and contribute to cross-functional design validation efforts. • Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design for manufacturability (DFM), cost reduction, and performance optimization. • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues. • Collaborate with compliance and certification teams to ensure mechanical designs meet global regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CE, ISTA, ASTM). • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

How will you get here?
