Great Hill Solutions seeks a Press Advisor Specialist to support our U.S. Department of State client within the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), Office of Press & Public Diplomacy (NEA/PPD – Press). The Press Advisor Specialist will support the Bureau's responsibilities to the Bureau of Public Affairs and the NEA Assistant Secretary through strategic communications, media engagement, press guidance, speechwriting, congressional liaison support, and public affairs coordination focused on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Support the Bureau's responsibilities to the Bureau of Public Affairs and the NEA Assistant Secretary, including press guidance, speechwriting, congressional liaison support, and strategic communications.
• Serve as a press and outreach specialist supporting NEA/PPD press operations focused primarily on multiple countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
• Work closely with NEA desk offices, senior Bureau leadership, and the Bureau of Public Affairs to develop and coordinate press guidance and public affairs support across the full range of NEA issues.
• Support the NEA spokesperson and deputy spokesperson by responding to domestic and international media inquiries, advancing Bureau priorities through proactive media engagement, conducting rapid response during crises, and countering disinformation and negative narratives.
• Coordinate MENA regional press operations, including:
• Preparing senior Department officials for media interviews, press conferences, and other public engagements.
• Supporting the Office of the Spokesperson with daily press briefings and related media activities.
• Drafting, coordinating, and clearing press guidance, talking points, press statements, and other media products for release.
• Developing and enhancing NEA social media and digital communications content.
• Coordinating media engagement with the White House National Security Council Press Office and interagency public affairs counterparts.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for domestic and international public speaking engagements involving NEA leadership and other Department principals.
• Coordinate with the Bureau of Public Affairs, Diplomatic Security, the Office of Protocol, and other Department stakeholders to provide technical and logistical support for media engagements and public events.
• Maintain internal digital archives and records of NEA media products, press guidance, and public outreach efforts.
• Travel domestically and internationally, as required, to support NEA leadership during official travel and oversee press and public engagements.
• Perform other communications, media relations, and public affairs duties as assigned in support of Bureau priorities.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Excellent knowledge of U.S. foreign policy issues affecting the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic communications products, press guidance, speeches, and media materials.
• Experience working with domestic and international media, including responding to press inquiries and supporting senior leadership engagements.
• Ability to solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and deliver consistent, high-quality performance in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate activities across multiple offices and locations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of media relations, public affairs, strategic communications, or related fields is highly preferred.
• Active Top Secret security clearance required.
