Barbaricum is seeking a Technical Writer to provide technical writing, editing, and document management support for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The successful candidate will develop, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical and operational documentation, including reports, briefings, manuals, standard operating procedures, and training materials. This role requires exceptional writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Experience working with classified information and Security Classification Guides (SCGs) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and review technical documentation, reports, briefings, presentations, white papers, manuals, and other program deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with Government standards.

• Edit and prepare classified and unclassified documents in accordance with applicable Security Classification Guides (SCGs), marking requirements, and document handling procedures.

• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, program managers, and subject matter experts to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and professional documentation for diverse audiences.

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project plans, schedules, requirements documents, test plans, technical manuals, training curricula, and operational documentation.

• Prepare executive-level briefings, memorandums, reports, and correspondence using existing technical content while ensuring consistency in messaging and presentation.

• Review and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and process documentation to improve clarity, standardization, and organizational knowledge transfer.

• Develop, maintain, and improve document templates, style guides, and formatting standards to promote consistency across program documentation.

• Create professional graphics, diagrams, charts, illustrations, and visual aids that enhance technical reports, presentations, briefings, and informational materials.

• Coordinate document review, approval, and release processes to support distribution to authorized Government organizations, partner agencies, and other approved stakeholders.

• Maintain document repositories, knowledge management portals, and libraries of approved products, ensuring documents are properly version-controlled, archived, and readily accessible.

• Apply standardized metadata, keywords, taxonomy, and tagging to improve document organization, searchability, and information retrieval.

• Track document development, review status, approvals, publication metrics, and product delivery schedules to ensure timely completion of assignments.

• Ensure all documentation complies with applicable organizational standards, formatting requirements, branding guidelines, and Government publishing requirements.

• Identify opportunities to improve technical writing processes, document workflows, and product development efficiencies through the use of best practices and collaborative tools.

• Perform additional technical writing, editing, documentation, and knowledge management duties as assigned in support of Government mission objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance

• Minimum level of experience: 2 years
