About the role
The Nuclear Company is hiring a part-time NOS Platform Intern (10 hours per week during the academic year) to help deliver AI models and build AI/ML products on NOS. NOS is the software platform behind one of the largest nuclear buildouts in the United States. The role is remote and designed to fit around a full course load; academic performance comes first, and the schedule flexes around exams and coursework.
This is a hands-on internship reporting to the Senior Director, NOS. You will identify use cases for AI deployments across the platform, help train and deliver AI models against the highest-value ones, and turn what works into products TNC can use internally and offer commercially. You will also advise on hardware options for TNC.
You will work with TNC team members and nuclear industry domain experts to keep the solutions relevant to how plants are actually designed, built, and run.
Responsibilities
• Identify use cases. Work with NOS product and business teams to find and document where AI deployments add value across the platform and for customers, and rank them by value and feasibility.
• Deliver AI models and products. Build, train, and evaluate AI models for the highest-value use cases, and help turn validated work into products for TNC's own use and for commercial offering.
• Advise on hardware. Assess NVIDIA and other hardware options against NOS needs, cost, and the regulatory and security constraints of a nuclear environment.
• Work with domain experts. Partner with TNC team members and nuclear industry domain experts to pressure-test use cases and keep solutions relevant, credible, and worth productizing.
• Document and report. Keep clear notes, write up findings, and present results to the team at the end of each semester.
Experience
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Genuine interest in building AI/ML models and products, GPUs, and platform or hardware deployment.
• Able to learn quickly, work independently on a defined scope, and ask for help when stuck.
• Able to commit about 10 hours per week remotely during the academic year while keeping up with a full course load, and to flag early when exams or coursework need the time.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document work so others can follow it.
• Authorized to work in the United States. This role supports critical infrastructure and may involve security and export-control requirements.
• Exposure to Palantir Foundry or AIP through coursework, projects, or prior work.
• Familiarity with NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA, or DGX-class systems.
• Coursework or projects with LLMs, RAG, or AI agents.
• Exposure to a major cloud, preferably AWS.
• Interest in nuclear, energy, or other critical-infrastructure sectors.
• Coursework or interest in cybersecurity, data governance, or regulated computing.
Benefits
• Competitive compensation packages
• 401k with company match
• Medical, dental, vision plans
• Generous vacation policy, plus holidays
