This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a new program within Engines, this team needs an experienced Welder, who will play a direct, hands-on role in building and operating complex test infrastructure, executing integration activities, and maintaining safe, reliable facility performance. Your work will directly influence test readiness, schedule execution, and the success of development milestones in a fast-paced, highly technical environment.

• Work Schedule: 16 days on / 12 days off rotational schedule. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shift days is required.

Van Horn Specific information [Remove if not applicable] Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee’s additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance.  Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Performs welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys and precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation.

• Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures. Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond.

• Welds metal components and parts using standard specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches and may also utilize friction stir welding (FSW) methods using solid-state joining.

• Uses electrical currents or friction to create heat and bond metals.

• Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

• Set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles.

• Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

• Accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches.

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED.

• Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical work instructions.

• Self-sufficient, self-starter and driven.

• 7+ years of experience GTAW welding in a manufacturing production environment.

• Proficient in using Microsoft office suite applications

• Must be able to author/Develop weld schedules that meet AWS D17.1 Class A inspections requirements.

• Familiar with all types of Non-Destructive testing and quality policies

• Experience in using automated welding equipment.

• Substantial ability using hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

• Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.

• Must be able to pass a practical Weld Test (1F, 3F, 2G, 3G and 6G).

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications • Certified per ASME Section IX

• Some technical coursework, trade school and/or AA technical degree/equivalent.

• Familiarity with Geometric tolerancing (GD&T)

• Experience with mechanized welding technologies.

• Leadership experience.

• Willingness to mentor less experienced technicians and welders.

• Experience with 5S methodology and lean initiatives.

• Current GTAW certifications in accordance with AWS D17.1.

• Expert level of confidence in aerospace manufacturing specifications for structural and welded assemblies.

• Ability to operate material handling equipment. (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.)

• Work 2nd shift, as well as weekends and overtime, when necessary.

• Willingness to develop/learn new welding processes.
