Physician Assistant - Engemann Admin Student Health - Per Diem 8 Hour Rotating Shifts (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

About this role

Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and health maintenance services under the direction and supervision of a physician. Essential Duties: • Obtains detailed and accurate medical histories from patients. Performs appropriate physical examinations, delineates problems, and records the information. • Develops and implements patient management plans, including the coordination of referrals to specialty and social services, the recording of progress notes and the provision of continuity of care. • Performs and/or interprets common laboratory, radiological, cardiographic, and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiological processes. • Performs procedures such as injections, immunizations, lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, suturing and wound care and manages conditions produced by infection or trauma. • Provides continuity of care in the management of complex illnesses and injuries under the supervision of a physician. Performs evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations. • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. • Facilitates the referral of patients to other health and social service agencies when appropriate. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: • Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program. • Req Associate's degree • Req 1 year; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience 1 Year minimum experience. • Req Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy and recovery. • Req Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and current know-how. • Req Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications: • Pref Bachelor’s Degree

Required Licenses/Certifications: • Req Physician Assistant - PA (CA DCA) • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) • Req FIRE LIFE SAFETY TRAINING: Applicable for this department only: ◦ *Per LA Fire City Code regulations If working within the following areas, employee is exempt from this requirement: Student Health Center and Athletics facilities (within “B” occupancy).

The hourly rate range for this position is $70.00 - $115.50.
