J61 and J63 are 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry units dedicated to delivering specialized care for patients recovering from complex cardiac surgeries and advanced cardiovascular interventions. These fast-paced units provide an exceptional environment for professional growth, offering nurses the opportunity to develop expertise in caring for patients following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery, valve repair and replacement, ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation, aneurysm repair, endarterectomy, maze procedures, and other innovative cardiac procedures.  

In addition to post-surgical care, J61 and J63 manage a diverse population of patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, including angina, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and complex arrhythmias such as supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia. Nurses also care for patients undergoing permanent   pacemaker   and implantable cardioverter- defibrillator   (ICD) placement or removal. With a strong focus on teamwork, evidence-based practice, and advanced cardiac care, these units offer a dynamic learning environment where nurses build specialized skills while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.  

A caregiver in this position works   nights, from   7:00 p m   – 7:30 a m.   Rotating weekends and holidays are   required .  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

• Provide or   assist   with patient care under the supervision of an RN , such as checking   vital sign s and   weight,   assisting   patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring   devices   and removing urinary Foley catheter s .   

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical,   mental   and emotional conditions to an RN.   

• Assist   with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

• High School Diploma   or GED  

• Basic Life Support (BLS)   C ertification through the American Heart Association (AHA)   or American Red Cross   within   new hire period  

• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) considered  

• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)  

Physical Requirements: • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment: • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
