Job Description: Orthopedic Clinic Manager

Functions as a Manager within the leadership structure of the orthopedic service line at Bay Area Hospital. Responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, and performance of assigned orthopedic departments and services. In collaboration with the Orthopedic Medical Director(s) and service line leadership, this role executes operational plans, supports quality initiatives, ensures regulatory compliance, and manages personnel and financial performance within the orthopedic clinic and related service areas. The Orthopedic Clinic Manager works collaboratively across departments including perioperative services, inpatient nursing, imaging, rehabilitation, scheduling, prior authorization, and marketing to ensure coordinated, high-quality, and efficient orthopedic patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY

Functions as a Manager within the leadership structure of the orthopedic service line at Bay Area Hospital. Responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, and performance of assigned orthopedic departments and services. In collaboration with the Orthopedic Medical Director(s) and service line leadership, this role executes operational plans, supports quality initiatives, ensures regulatory compliance, and manages personnel and financial performance within the orthopedic clinic and related service areas. The Orthopedic Clinic Manager works collaboratively across departments including perioperative services, inpatient nursing, imaging, rehabilitation, scheduling, prior authorization, and marketing to ensure coordinated, high-quality, and efficient orthopedic patient care.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads day-to-day operations of assigned orthopedic departments, including clinic services and related support functions. • Coordinates activities across the orthopedic care continuum including clinic, pre-operative services, imaging, rehabilitation, perioperative, and inpatient areas. • Executes strategic and operational initiatives established by service line leadership. • Assesses and improves patient flow, scheduling efficiency, and access to care. • Investigates and resolves operational issues impacting patient care and provider workflow. • Serves as liaison between orthopedic providers and operational departments.

• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care processes and implements improvements in collaboration with medical staff and Quality division. • Ensures compliance with regulatory, licensing, accreditation, and documentation requirements. • Participates in development, review, and revision of orthopedic policies, procedures, and standard work. • Monitors and reports on unit-specific quality and performance metrics. • Assists in development and implementation of remediation plans when necessary.

• Assists in preparation and management of annual operating and capital budgets for assigned departments. • Monitors productivity, resource utilization, and departmental financial performance. • Identifies cost-effective systems to support operations while maintaining quality standards. • Manages inventory, supplies, vendor coordination, and equipment needs within assigned areas. • Supports revenue cycle processes including scheduling, authorization, billing coordination, and denial management.

• Interviews, hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates assigned staff. • Establishes clear performance expectations and completes timely annual evaluations. • Manages staffing schedules, timekeeping, overtime, and productivity targets. • Supports employee engagement, conflict resolution, and corrective action processes as appropriate. • Rounds regularly with staff and providers to foster communication and teamwork. • Coordinates provider schedules and assists with onboarding processes in collaboration with Medical Staff Office.

• Supports growth initiatives and marketing efforts to increase orthopedic service utilization. • Maintains effective working relationships with orthopedic surgeons (employed and independent), advanced practice providers, and hospital departments. • Participates in committees, task forces, and interdisciplinary initiatives related to orthopedic services. • Assists in tracking and reporting orthopedic market share, patient satisfaction, and performance indicators. • Supports physician recruitment efforts as requested. • Performs other duties as assigned
