Interim Operations Area Manager
Principal Accountabilities: This position is responsible for overseeing multiple areas within a shift. Ensure the accurate and timely operation of Processing and Value Added Services (VAS). Establish control-related standards and procedures. Oversee the daily activities of warehouse employees engaged in all distribution center activities including: shipping, receiving, loading and unloading trucks, stacking, picking, and packing finished products. Responsible for identifying space requirements and coordinating needs for storage with delivery and distribution schedules to achieve distribution center goals and ensure customer satisfaction. Duties also include maintenance of equipment and ensuring a safe work environment, and to suggest procedure changes for increased efficiency. • Knowledge & Skill Requirements: Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred • Equivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree to be determined by the nature of the specific job and the hiring manager’s criteria • Generally six years of progressive experience with one year of supervisory experience* Strong organization and communication skills • Creates a discipline and focus around developing talent, promotes an environment allowing everyone to bring their best selves to work. • Proficient in core computer skills (Microsoft Office). • Ability to balance and prioritize competing demands. • Ability to interact with all levels of management with confidence and respect. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. • Experience and proficiency with WMS (PkMS) or other comparable WMS, RF and MHE technologies. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English • Bi-lingual - Spanish preferred • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Knowledge & Application: Acquires depth of expertise in more than one technical work area and on track to becoming a discipline expert Acquiring management experience within a process driven environment with extensive experience in a large or complex technical area Knowledge of standardized rules, procedures, and operations within own area Determines a course of action based on guidelines and modifies processes and methods as required Requires knowledge of company policies, practices, and procedures. Problem Solving: Resolves issues which are often varied and nonroutine Uses previous experience to identify most appropriate option or improve existing approaches Problems likely to require clarification Undertakes analysis and investigation to solve differing, but related, problems Interaction: Conveys information to occasionally divergent audiences that may require some persuasion May require the initiation of contacts to resolve and discuss mutual problems or collaboration on procedures or transactions May need to convey information to audiences not knowledgeable of the subject matter Requires objective review of difficult work problems, obtaining cooperation or approval Impact: Impact is generally limited to short-term team performance, occasionally on medium-term goals Responsible for meeting targets typically against a monthly plan Supports the achievement of goals through own personal effort and influence on others Responsible for planning own work, assessing own progress, and adjusting efforts to meet goals Beginning to have more of a contributory impact on team/discipline performance Accountability: Accountable for meeting short-term (less than one year) targets which impact the immediate work area Takes action to monitor and manage costs related to own work and that of the team People management responsibility for pay reviews, performance management, training, and resource planning
How you Will Make a Difference: • Promotes a Safety culture environment while ensuring training and compliance of all VF Safety policies/procedures and any other related safety requirements. • Establishes and cultivates morale and engagement of team members. Encourages team member participation in workplace activities and events. Establishes and directs positive communication channels between cross-functional teams (HR, Maintenance, Safety & Operations team) • Monitor daily performance forecast as it relates to DC productivity/efficiency. Leverages all performance management, KPI, DC Balancing and Flow applicable to managing daily DC functional area performance. • Assist in training and development of team in collaboration with DC trainers. Ensures compliance with all established DC SOP’s for each applicable functional area. • Advocates and actively participates in continuous improvement culture, while utilizing LEAN methodology. • Maintains appropriate and required records for team members, attendance, training and KPI’s under their responsibility. • Participates in administrative activities, which may include defining resource needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to meet business objectives. Assists in managing daily staffing needs for designated department: vacations, monitors turnover and volume.
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements: • Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours including weekends as necessary. • Bend lift, open, and move product from 1 to 50lbs. • Warehouse environment: Must be physically capable of working in conditions normally associated with a merchandise warehouse or distribution center, such as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, seeing and hearing moving equipment to stay out of harms way, and continuous power equipment noise.
Hiring Range : $74,800.00 USD - $93,500.00 USD annually Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
