• 3, 12-hour night shifts per week • Holiday/Weekend rotation • A sign-on bonus is available to applicants who have not received a sign-on bonus from the company for another role within the past 24 months.
Pay Range: $38.20 - $57.30
Where You Will Work: The Neurological Progressive Care Unit (9B) at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is a high-acuity, fast-paced progressive care unit established to support and decompress the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU). Our nurses thrive in a dynamic environment that fosters continuous professional growth while developing expertise in the care of complex neurological and neurosurgical patients. Our team provides specialized care for a wide range of patient populations and advanced therapies, including: • Post-operative craniotomy patients • Pituitary tumor resection patients • Post-operative deep brain stimulator (DBS) patients • Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak repair patients in collaboration with ENT surgeons • Subdural hematomas, including patients undergoing bedside twist drill procedures, burr holes, and craniotomies with hematoma evacuation • Seizure/epilepsy patients and associated procedures • Subarachnoid hemorrhage patients • Post-operative spinal surgery patients requiring progressive care-level monitoring • Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunts and external ventricular drains (EVDs) • Subdural drains • Lumbar drains • Ischemic stroke patients at high risk for hemorrhagic conversion • Hemorrhagic stroke patients requiring progressive care-level monitoring • Neuromuscular diseases (Myasthenia Gravis, Guillain- Barre, Multiple Scleorsis) • CNS infections • NSICU patients transitioning to progressive care status • Advanced respiratory management, including tracheostomy care, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (OptiFlow) • Intravenous infusion management, including cardiac drips, nicardipine (Cardene), and heparin
Staffing ratios are thoughtfully adjusted to meet patient acuity needs, with ideal nurse-to-patient assignments of 1:3, and 1:2 for our highest-acuity patients, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care. The 9B team is a highly skilled, compassionate, and collaborative work family dedicated to delivering outstanding clinical care while providing unwavering support to patients and their loved ones during some of life's most challenging moments.
We’re Looking For: • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
What You’ll Do: • As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

We also serve as one of North Carolina’s 5 Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15 specialties and serve as a regional campus for Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
