Music Cataloging Specialist II - part-time/17.5 hrs per week

Are you passionate about music, libraries, and bringing order to information? BYU is looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our library team as a half-time Music Cataloging Specialist.

In this early-career role, you’ll work across a diverse range of music collections and materials, applying cataloging standards and metadata practices to help make valuable library resources discoverable and accessible.

What You’ll Be Doing

Catalog print and digital music materials using MARC 21, RDA, LCC, and LCSH Evaluate, enhance, and maintain bibliographic records Work with national library databases such as OCLC Perform authority control and contribute to NACO/PCC activities Review cataloging work for accuracy and quality Help train, mentor, and support student employees Contribute ideas to improve cataloging workflows and procedures Participate in professional development and library training What We’re Looking For

What Qualifies You For This Role

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 2 years of active music experience Strong knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards Experience working with complex workflows, formats, and/or languages Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, faculty, students, and other library stakeholders

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent experience 4+ years of active music experience 2 years of applied cataloging experience

Pay Grade: 50 Typical Starting Pay: $25.00-$32.50

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
